Lure Coursing Deerhounds

You are welcome to the Deerhound Fun Day on Saturday 14th March.  The day is for anyone to have fun with their Scottish Deerhounds, not just UK club members, and have a good social day, whilst teaching their dogs to chase a plastic bag!  You will be made very welcome. The event is at Falkland Farm, Washwater Common, Nr. Newbury (BSFA field). See here for the location. Book your dogs in at 10.00 am for a 11.00 am racing start. Could you please let Vanessa Lucas know via email vanessa.lucas5@virgin.net  if you are coming and how many Deerhounds you will be bringing.

There will be lure coursing and a long jump. The Nobys Quaich will be presented by David Gilhooly for the second year. If you have other dogs they can have a go too the only obligation is you have to bring a deerhound!

There will be some lovely stalls from the Greyhound Rescue and from Greyhound Gap. They are selling beautiful sighthound collars, amongst other things so bring plenty of money!!!  Also any donations and items / cakes etc would be most welcome to help them all continue doing a great job! Vanessa is also running a raffle for Deerhound rescue so if anyone can bring prizes or buy tickets that would be a great support.

Finally, if anyone has a gazebo it would be great if they could bring it. Vanessa is hoping for better weather than last year when it poured but you never know.

On Sunday 15th March the BSFA lure racing event will be held at the same venue. So why not make a weekend of it. This event is open to KC registered sighthounds. They must be prebooked a week in advance, details on the BFSA site linked via the directory.

Have a look on the forum too for a discussion on the weekend. Also please have a read of Vanessa's  article here about last years really excellent event.
