Looking for some one who can help a neck injury by manipulation, in the west country, Devon preferably. Vets suggest surgery after MR
I Scan. Fellow owners at the breed show last week suggested this, as it seems to work. The last hound we had with this, was operated on and became extremely stiff in neck and had to be put down. I would be grateful for any advice. Or knowledge, acupunctyure was alson suggested.

Could do with more information here. What is the neck injury, how did it occur, etc.

'Manipulation' can be dangerous.

What are the symptoms?

There is another thread on this somewhere, but yes, we need to have a bit more information, how it started etc. Mine had it once, where he pulled up suddenly and pulled a muscle, being a big baby, the next morning he was crying out in pain and couldn't get up without yelping. The vet prescribed Rhymadyl, one tablet and he was back to normal.

I think you would have to be careful with manipulation if you don't know the cause.

Hi The dog has been bowled over by another hound, x rays were taken, but there seemed to be no obvious, injuries, sllght bruising possible. Bitch yelps when getting up from her bed, pressure applied to nose to push head to rear results in a yelp, some times, no yelp if head is moved sideways or down. Painkillers stopped the yelps. She is active and plays, but is obviously wary. Not one of the bravest dogs, and like most hounds is a bit of a baby. Thanks very much for, both of your replies.

Andy there is a thread in the health section where I have gone into detail about Bree's neck. Her injury was from a bad tumble/body slam. To cut a long story short, we used acupuncture, chiropractor and the most valuable and life changing was chinese herbal medicine.
I found the thread, This was started about halfway through the saga. Basically Bree had been suffering for many months before she improved. She had lost all her muscle in her neck and shoulders and was so miserable. Now she is back to normal and her muscle tone has returned which we took slowly.
The whole thing lasted for about 12 months.

Hi Andy, We had this earlier this year when DH bowled terrier over. Vet gave rymadil and rest. Took a couple of weeks rest - no running and only let out to toilet really, and then careful short walks in garden without her pal for another week and then all was well. Hope yours also heals soon.
