TOPIC: in season!!

in season!! 1 year, 7 months ago #25948

hi all a while ago i was seeking advice about what age to spey because was going to get skye done because of going on doggy holiday in august and was worried about her being in season for holidays. i think opinion was that should get away with it because she had her first season begining of jan and would prob not have another season that soon.she has come in season dead on 6 months from the first one!!!!! so iam very very pleased as she will be finished just before we go away!! how lucky is that!!! dont have to worry now!!!

That's excellent news for you and Skye both! But how interesting that she has cycled in six months. I find deerhound bitches tend to have much longer spaces between heats, more like 11-12 months. Guess Skye didn't read the rule book Have a great holiday.

Enjoy your holidays !!! - and , there are a whole lot of deerhound girls out there who come in season , alomost to the day , every 6 mths - depends on the line I think .
I wonder at times , wether in/linebreeding changed the cycle , influences fertility ( litter seize seem to be smaller , too , than it used to be with large/giant breeds ) .

Collies and terriers come in twice sometimes three times a year....horses for 7 days each month...usually...but some horses just for one hour each month...weather,travelling and health all can influence this.....can be a real nightmare...amazing how different they can be..

...and Grey Wolves(Canis lupus) once in the year.
By the dog breeds ( Canis lupus familiaris)is it a result from the evolution, if more as once in the year.
