Sorry Trevor, I've never heard of the stuff. But there are many on this forum who have had experiences with treating toe injuries so I'm sure help is on the way! VerenaV where are you?

Metacam is great stuff...we use it for injuries across the board..muscle strain..ligaments..bite wounds..cuts from barbed wire..even bone problems...it's an anti-inflammatory painkiller...does wonders on cattle, horses and dogs..

Have heard of it, but never used it - lots of bone men do recomend it though,
but i have read that there are a lot of fakes out there.

I presume it's a bit simler to tiger balm, as it seems both work more or less
the same way.

Sorry to hear about the injury - hope Milo will heal well and quickly so .
I think , I never used this particular medicine ( might have , but am not so very knwoledgable about chinese meds ) - the ingredients sound fine ! On my dogs , who had some toe injuries over the years , I would use metacam for the 1rst 3-7 or so days in case they are really painful , otherwise I 'd rather not ;I think it damages the kidneys in long time use ( or was it the liver ? ) , also , to feel a little bit of pain keeps mine quieter ! helps the healing process... - and I would use heparin ointment on the toe /swelling - does the same , increase circulation/promote healing basically . In addition I would give arnica ( in various potencies ) and , most likely symphytum - as liquid on the skin or /and internally. Most of all , time to heal is important - leash walks , perhaps a good dogshoe ( with a harder/leather sole ( like the muttlukks available here ) to keep the toe a bit more even during a walk .
