Tonight i've had to rush one of my girls to the emergency vets,
shes developed open pyrometra, and is quite ill,
there operating later today (sat) once they have got her stable,
this will be the first time shes been away from home, as shes a nervous girl anyway,
and gets stressed quite easely, its going to be a verry long stressfull weekend,
as once the ops done, they wont let her out till sunday.
Bonnie, mooching near the water up in the woods.

I went down to pay some of the bill today, and they let me see her whilst i was there,
they had decided to do the op last night, the op went well - however this morning she was still in a lot of pain, so they decided to do a pancreatic test, which they have done for free, and its showing the area's very badly inflamed, they dont know if its because of the pyo or its been there all along and this has just brought it out, she's still very down in herself,
and didnt even wag her tail when she saw me, the vets there have been fantastic with both me and her, he explained everything, there hopeing she will be able to come home tomorrow afternoon, solong as she eats something, but they have told me she will be prone to flare up's, so she will have to be on a bland diet probably for the rest of her life, no treats or anything like that, am just glad i did catch it, and use my gut instint (sp),
as there been a bug going round hear, my brothers dog had it a few weeks ago, and the symptoms were the same, all's except bonnie was verry hot to touch.
Fingers crossed she will be home tomorrow.

She's now home - she's a little out of it, as they have give her a painkiller simler to morphine, on the way home she puked in the car, it stank rotten,
i dont think she will eat tonight, as alls she wants to do is be left alone to sleep, will try her with some later, but if not hopefully she will eat in the morning.

Thanks everyone, bonnie is doing a lot better now, shes started eating on her own, insted of me having to hand feed her and encorage her to eat it, she was sick a little earlyer on today, but there was no food in it, so hopefully it means its being digested ,shes had 4 small meals so far today, and is drinking lots, shes off pain meds and is showing no symptoms of pain, so alls good there, but shes not pooed at all since coming home, and twice she's weed whilst lying down
although she will wee when i take her out, shes got a check up in the morning so will ask them about that whilst there, am hopeing to get her back on to normal food over the next week or so, just adding a little to the chicken and sweet potato shes having, shes going to be put on chappie complete as a just incase, as its low in fat.
Have decided to get all my girls done, when i get bonnies bill payed off - i dont think i could see them go through what bonnies been through, she was verry ill and it was touch and go, am just glad i took her in when i did, if i had of waited till morning she probably wouldnt be hear.

Hi Liz - shes a lot better now ta, have got her mixing with the others now, whilst under supervision, shes still weeing sometimes whilst shes a sleep, but its a lot less then before, so hopefuly it was just brusing, still have to encorage her to eat at first, hopefully once shes back mixing with the others, she will start to eat properly.
shes back at the vets for her stiches out on the 26th and hopefully that will be the end of her problems.

Pleased to hear Bonnie is doing better. My lurcher Marra had the same problem and had to have an operation. Recovery was slow but steady in her case. I also decided to have my other lurcher spayed as a result of this. I understand open Pyometra is fairly uncommon but I found it very stressful to manage so wishing you both all the best.

It looks like bonnies back to normal now ( thank christ) her stiches come out on tue,
and shes now nealy back on normal dog food, once the stiches out she will go back in to a normal routine with the others.
what i cant realy understand is she was actualy in seasion when she came down with the pyo,
mabe it was a god send that she was, as it probably helped - but i always thought it was after there seasions they was at risk.
