"Houston, we have success!!"
Me, Victoria and His Grace, Jamie, left the house at 6am and drove all the way to Wales to meet Alphie. We got there just after ten in the morning. We heard him and his thin deerhound whine before we ever even saw him
We took him for a short walk and were smitten in the first five minutes. He really is a star!! Quite a bit smaller than Jamie is and darker but unmistakeble deerhound in him. We went back to the truck and got Jamie out and walked them together which went surprisingly well. We really expected Jamie to be a grumpy puss but he was fine. We then turned the boys loose in a fenced in exercise yard where they studiously ignored each other for five minutes and then sniffed each other out and then got along just fine.
That bieng sorted, I put the dogs in the truck together while Victoria went to do the paperwork. Jamie was a little surprised that he had to share his truck and was a little put out for a few minutes but then just laid down and got over it.
We started back home and stopped every 45mins or so to let them out and stretch. I hooked them together with a short dual lead to a single retractable lead. The walked together just fine. Midway through the trip home they were laying about on each other.
Now that we are home they are just like kid brothers. We walked them through the village and a couple of the local dogs barked at them but they just ignored them and we walked on by. Those same dogs Jamie used to bark back at! Now, he could care less. Victoria says she thinks Jamie thinks Alphie is a present to him!!!
We are very, very happy with him and he is already settled in the house just fine. They understand each other, know whose bowl is whose and who belongs where.
I've got a few pics but I can't figure out how to add then on this forum

(any suggestions would be most appreciated. Figured out the avatar just fine, but adding pics is kicking me. grrrrr!)
