Yes, you are very handsome, never heard of a Dane Lurcher! You can see from the head, though he does look very DH, what a lovely looking boy!

Vladik is a darling boy but tends to be a bit of a nervous fellow who's feelings are easliy hurt..On the other hand his favourite past time was to break thru the fence&go on a mountain run-returning with a wiked grin!
Vlad was my first taste of a deerhound..having found it very hard to obtain a deerhound pup I decided to get him..I traveled up country in the dark with $150 mostly in coins to buy him-got lost, had a search party (the sellers) out trying to find us&when we finally got there here was this gorgeous boy freezing in a cage..He came from a puppy farmer. They had a Deerhound dog,GreatDane bitch&several American staffie type dogs..But I was in love..He was the only 'black' pup in the litter. The others were brindle.
His father was a gorgeous tall deerhound&when I saw him I knew I would have a deerhound one day..Needless to say Vladik is my LORD&Master so I tell him&we love each other!! He is an excellent watchdog&is very protective of me..I always feel safe when hes with me.
He is five&a half now&going very grey in the face! Everyone thinks he is old until they see him run!

Vladik loves to wear clothes as well..this is him in his favourite scarf..i find it is disarming when people meet him that are big dog shy as he looks so cruisy in it.He also has a hooded jacket that he loves..

What a gorgeous boy. It's sad to think of a deerhound in a puppy farm situation, but at least this puppy seems to have fallen on his feet

Awww He is gorgeous. We got Xena from a similar situation though she does have papers. We went to have a look and when we saw her living conditions we couldn't leave her. There were dogs everywhere, mainly sighthounds with 2 lots of pups on the ground of whatever cross they had come up with. Luckily for us Xena used to worry the sheep and was extremely gun shy so was no use to them. If a hunter was what they were after, they lost their best dog
