TOPIC: Lure coursing

Lure coursing 3 years, 2 months ago #2782

Any other lurcher types going to the lure coursing on 30th November? I'm hoping to bring Cara and two of her bairns. I need to work on the muzzle wearing, they're not too keen on them:angry:

The pups are 1yr in December, but they don't have the heavy build of the pure bred Deerhounds so I'm happy for them to have a go at the racing. It sounds like great fun.

We haven't been using muzzles and haven't had any problems with scrapping at the end of a run. We hand slip the dogs, purely because no one has double slips, and because it's quite a long course, any distance lost from an uneven slip is easily made up.

All we do is run the top dog on the card in a red collar and the even numbers in white. Collars are provided, so you don't even have to knit your own unless you want to!

So glad there are no muzzles, it's hard enough convincing Cara that although the lure looks nothing like a bunny, it is for chasing, without the added distraction of trying to remove a muzzle.
Really looking forward to this. Just as well I don't have to knit a collar, hate to think how it would turn out.
