Refers to the D/H as the Scotch hound

I love looking at old breed photos. Amazing how some breeds have changed and others remaining typical. The Bassett for example had much longer legs and I bet less joint and back problems. Another is the colouring of the Retriever. You can tell from the photo that it is a dark golden colour not the washed out creams you get now which I personally do not prefer. It is so hard to get a "golden" retriever nowadays.

Houndy, thanks so much for sharing this site with us. I've spent a happy half hour browsing the photos. Fascinating how some of the breeds have changed over the years - take for example the corded fur of the poodle, quite a different creature altogether. I'm sure most of us would find the taxidermy examples downright creepy but there you go of interest nonetheless! Please, if anyone knows of similar sites or books that one can purchase, would you let us know? This is precisely my cup of tea!
