Hi Folks

We have just had the Melbourne Royal Show for 2008. I was very pleased to see a great entry of 22 Deerhounds!

We had a wonderful time catching up with everyone and a fantastic day showing!

Ch Bhealaich Gotta Luv Me 'Scraps' was awarded Dog Challenge. His daughter, Anduril Ravenscraig 'Raven' was awarded Bitch Challenge from the Puppy class. Scraps was Best of Breed, Raven was Runner-up Best of Breed and she was also Puppy of Breed!

We returned on the weekend for General Specials Day but went no further.

I've attached a few photos from General Specials day, but as I was handling on breed day, I have no photos of all the other Deerhounds. If anyone has any they'd like to share, I'm sure we'd all like to see them!

Cheers
Melanie Buckley

Aeryn is my daughter and she loves the dogs (all dogs). She's two and has been calling dogs by their breed name for months - LOL!

If a dog comes in it's "a Poodle" or a "Jack Russell" - it's not just a dog!!

Looks like another dog shower in the making!

What a big boy Colonial is! Great pictures and I bet everyone here in the UK is thinking the same
as me, what big benches you have over there, ours here are totally unsuitable, approx half the size.
All the deerhounds tend to sleep on the floor as they can't get comfortable in the silly benches
we have over here.

Congratulations Mel, what a fantastic show you had. Your daughter is so cute. Charlotte is 14 and we quite often find her asleep on the bench when we get back from the ring. I agree with you Helen re the bench sizes. Ours are about the width of the one dog bed. Far too small for dogs our size.

The benches we have actually have a divider in the middle that they leave in for the smaller breeds and remove for the bigger ones - despite the fact that they are pretty old and run-down now, they are a really good size! Makes a full day at the big shows much more bearable!

If only they'd give me a bench big enough for me to sleep in comfortably too!!!

A photo taken at Crufts earlier on in the year, not a good copy as the lighting is poor inside the NEC, but just a hint at
our small benches.

Congratulations. Also what an excellent set up you have in Melbourne. Got to agree with Lurch those benches are excellent.Deerhounds are too!

Here's a Cusidh Deerhound trying to squeeze into a bench this year. An unusual picture as normally the Cusidhs try and trip everyone up and sprawl all over the floor! I do remember Miss Noble despairing at the sight of all our deerhounds on the floor. Hers incidently were always benched.

I have to admit that the benches in Hobart are no where as big as they are in Melbourne. Sort of somewhere inbetween the Uk's and those shown.
