We have 2 litter sisters, born December 2006, we call Alice and Rosie. They are good dogs and we love them. Unfortunately my wife needs to recover from a major operation so it is no longer sensible to keep them. They are Andalucian born and have an excellent pedigree.

Good homes are needed for them individually. Rosie is the brainy one but Alice is bigger so they are well matched.

If any in Southern Spain is genuinely interested I will answer any questions if you post them to this thread.

Rosie is unusual for a deerhound - she can sit and lie down directly

I'm sorry to hear you have to give away your hounds have you tried contacting the breeder to see if they would be able to take them back and re-home them or keep them for you until your wife is recovered? They look like such lovely girls and I'm sorry, being in Australia, we can't help you with more than advice and consolation.

Best of luck and I hope you wife gets better soon.

First think we tried. Was not practical at the time - too short notice. Rosie and Alice have a good holiday home which was recommended by the breeder. They are learning to socialise with other dogs but must be placed soon. My wife is much better now thanks but taking Rosie and Alice back is not an option.

Please keep me informed as to what is happening to Alice and Rosie. I have followed their story with interest and have considered offering them a home.

As you are a 'dogless' survivor1 I can tell you a bit about Rosie & Alice which may help both of us.

They are still on holiday & need new homes.

They breakfast at 8am, rest most of the day and dine at 6pm. For 2 hours a day they are active and are great fun.

I believe Rosie and Alice would need a blood test six monthe before they would be allowed into UK.

Could this be done now whilst they are in their 'holiday home'?

No problem with bloodtests. Both sisters are upto date with their rabies injection and have "passports".

Things have moved on a bit. Alice is still on holiday but Rosie is back home. Splitting up the sisters has calmed them both down a lot.

Rosie has not been well and is just finishing a course of antibiotics. She is now much better. We will probably keep her

I would consider giving Alice a home.

Thanks survivor1. Things have actually started to move here in Andalucia since Rosie came home and it looks as though Alice may have found a home to.

I am getting Alice checked out by an orthopeadic vet as she has a problem going down steps (she prefers jumping). She is a very powerful dog but trembles a bit. Hopefully the vet will give her the OK and Alice will have her new home in Andalucia.

Do be honest I would prefer not to transport either dog out of Spain if at all possible as they have already been stressed a lot.

They are coming upto to their second season and I now need to get them spade. I will post an update when the situation becomes a little clearer.
