Hoo boy, what a day! Rain threatened but never materialised, light breeze, occasional sunny intervals; perfect running weather and great crack. We had the biggest turn-out since records began - sixteen Deerhounds and twenty-nine other breeds and (wait for it) dear Old Jack was back with a bullet, small as life and just as splendid, and he won his course too. Not bad for a fourteen-year old, is he? The Deerhound stake was very keenly contested and was won by Team Cusidh's Rashie from my Tavish, with Hairybeasty's Lummox and Duncan and Bridget Robertson's Shimmer as the other semi-finalists. The other breeds stake went to Bryn from Team Fastpants, who were out mob-handed with two of Bryn's brothers present as well as Bella, from Enzo the Whippet, who's a bit of a flying machine himself. Hazel lurcher and Biscuit Whippet (from Team Menacejerseys) were the other semi-finalists. Sue's old lady Tarka was out and about, having a great day out and we were supervised by Magic the Poodle in her fabby new hairstyle until she blotted her copybook and was put in the Range Rover for her sins. Didn't stop her supervising, but it did mean she wasn't stirring and mixing!
We had lots of familiar faces and a good number of new people and dogs and had a very relaxed day once a few differences of opinion among the Deerhounds had been resolved to the humans' satisfaction. Paul from Team Beagles was taking photographs, as was Anne (Feldandjack) so there might be some good shots to come. Thank you to our photographers, and yet again to Team Rose for their hospitality.
