Just a quick reminder that Sue and Kevin are running a lure coursing meeting at Rumbling Bridge on 21st March. So if you're not going to Newbury because it's too far south, come and join us on Fire Hill. If all goes according to plan, the crack will be awesome, Bryn will be shouting his head off, the Beagles and Whippets will be zooming at full speed. Dileas and DownJess won't be there - they both came into season on Monday - but Tavish and I most definitely will. Hope to see you there. Get there about 10:30 for an 11:00 am start and dress for the weather, whatever it may be. Here and today in sunny East Lothian, it's on the cloudy, but spring-like, side.

If you're stuck in the middle, Steve, move! Or you could always start another meeting - the more the merrier.

Yes it's lonely here in the Midlands. I did think of building a coursing machine but alas I've just not found the time and my dog's probably getting too old and wise now for chasing a plastic bag. It would still be great to have somewhere in between Newbury and Rumbling Bridge though. Anyone have any ideas?

We are looking forward to coming - old Jack is still going strong and will be up for a race or two - Jake has been doing lots of running and Holly well - she would run day or night! Look forward to seeing you all.

Steve, Newbury isn't too far for you? I am in Hertfordshire and it is about an hour and a half for me, but Murphy won't chase plastic bags again! The first time we went he ran well, but I think it was because he was running with a greyhound who took off like lightning, he chased him instead, last time, he was with a DH bitch and decided nipping her back would be the polite thing to do

Where were you in Geography lessons at school Helen. North wales is hell of a way further from Newbury than is Watford. Even for me to get there from Shropshire it must be 3 hours+

To save Bryns blushes I've been experimenting with hair gel and a comb over to cover the slight hair loss from his sair bum. He plans on being 'in front' and so I wouldn't want to distract the dogs racing up behind him.
As there were no takers for the 'period dress' I will stick to wearing my "G'day Sheila" hat, providing it aint too windy. My friend (yes I do have one) is hoping to bring her Border Terrierist, he's a bit of a woos and so may have to run with Bella.

Bryns brothers Archie and Rowan have said they are joining us. Team Fastpants is getting bigger
See you all there

Hoo boy, what a day! Rain threatened but never materialised, light breeze, occasional sunny intervals; perfect running weather and great crack. We had the biggest turn-out since records began - sixteen Deerhounds and twenty-nine other breeds and (wait for it) dear Old Jack was back with a bullet, small as life and just as splendid, and he won his course too. Not bad for a fourteen-year old, is he? The Deerhound stake was very keenly contested and was won by Team Cusidh's Rashie from my Tavish, with Hairybeasty's Lummox and Duncan and Bridget Robertson's Shimmer as the other semi-finalists. The other breeds stake went to Bryn from Team Fastpants, who were out mob-handed with two of Bryn's brothers present as well as Bella, from Enzo the Whippet, who's a bit of a flying machine himself. Hazel lurcher and Biscuit Whippet (from Team Menacejerseys) were the other semi-finalists. Sue's old lady Tarka was out and about, having a great day out and we were supervised by Magic the Poodle in her fabby new hairstyle until she blotted her copybook and was put in the Range Rover for her sins. Didn't stop her supervising, but it did mean she wasn't stirring and mixing!

We had lots of familiar faces and a good number of new people and dogs and had a very relaxed day once a few differences of opinion among the Deerhounds had been resolved to the humans' satisfaction. Paul from Team Beagles was taking photographs, as was Anne (Feldandjack) so there might be some good shots to come. Thank you to our photographers, and yet again to Team Rose for their hospitality.

Fantastic day, although the Fastpants second string are in the doghouse for ungentlemanly behaviour. Huge apology to Hazel who had to suffer both oiks, and respect to Pip who was showing us just a hint of whats under his bonnet.
Thanks again to Team Rose and Sid for making it all happen.

Hello everybody!

Just registered on the site and visited Rumbling Bridge for the first time.
We all had a great day and looking forward to more.
Rowan plans to become a regular member of Team Fastpants once he's had some serious coaching from the teamleader. Bryn? Anne?
