Took Jag and Faye to a lure coursing event today - our first. Of course had to take horse truck to fit in 2 x toddlers, 2 x deerhounds and husband with leg in plaster, as subaru can only manage sections of the above ie 2 x toddlers OR 2 x deerhounds, or 1 x deerhound (smallish), 1 x husband, 2 x toddlers etc....
Anyway as we weren't "qualified" we had to do fun runs. Well Faye blew their tiny wee socks OFFFFFFFF!!!! She was da bomb, as they say in trendy places. Jag went well, but Faye knew what to do, when to do it etc. She was (almost) unanimously voted "dog of the day" except an extremely officious whippet owner/lure judge said that no one else except for her whippets were any good. Now this was a woman who when judging in the morning failed to qualify ANY dogs (baaa humbug...)
so no ribbons, or trophys or anything special, except we all know that Faye was the best!!!!

What a pity the snotty lady couldnt just enjoy all the dogs and relax,she would have had a much better day.I feel really sorry for people like that,life must be so hard for them!!

Whippets. What's the point eh? I hope that judge stays with that breed...and far away from ours! Go Faye go!!!!

This is just the way it is with judges - be it lurecoursing , show , whatever - no one ever pleaaes everyone , neither hounds nor judges ( nor owners ???) ....;nothing to be taken too seriously .Glad though , that you and your hounds had great fun and hope , you will have more opportunities to attend trials .
We had our first 2 days of the season , last weekend , with 3 dhs starting young Hermione and her cousin peigi split the wins - here a pic of Hermione in the homestretch of the 850yards course
