I was thinking about offering site users their own email address. So you could have rob at scottish-deerhound.com or maybe your kennelname at scottish-deerhound.com
Email sent to your scottish-deerhound.com address could either be forwarded to your current email, or I could provide a web email interface similar to hotmail or gmail.
I really don't know how it would work yet, so if anyone is interested and would be willing to test this for me, then please let me know. I think if I can get 5 to 10 people interested it might be worth the work to run a trial.
I suspect that there maybe a fair amount of administration, and it might just be too much work, but I think that people might well really want a scottish-deerhound.com address, after all it is a really good email address.
Also I'm not quite sure what it would offer the site, people who never use the site could get accounts generate me a whole load of work and not contribute anything, I'd like to offer it for free if it was for genuine site users and contributors, but how do you protect against abuse. What if a spammer applied for an address and then started sending out millions of emails, I guess I'd be responsible, and as an individual I'm not prepared to take that risk.
So If anyone would like to work with me to test this in theory, or if anyone can make any suggestions of how to make it work safely drop me a line or post to this thread.
Thanks
Rob
