Hello everyone! The humans are called Ailish and John but more interestingly our dogs are Murphy -our 6 year old rescue Lakeland terror oops terrier! Last Sunday however we realised a long term dream of becoming deerhound owners. Freya is from Orrin's litter so a big thank you to Sally and Alan for all their help and advice. We all think she is gorgeous! (Our boys came home for the event too as well as our daughter Maddy who came with us to collect Freya). We introduced Freya to Murph very slowly and all is well. We do give him his space though as she wants to play all the time! She is either a big cowardy custard or a very wise puppy as she submits as soon as he approaches and then all is well! Have attached-I hope- pictures taken this week We have been reading the forum for ages with interest so now feel we can join in. Ailish

Hello from DH Ben and myself and welcome to the forum. Congratulations on aquiring Freya, I'm sure you'll have many great times ahead.

I also have a Terrier (Cross) who gets on well with Ben although they do have their moments as Ben can often get much too rough. The terrier tollerates it for so long and when he's had enough goes off in search of rabbits and disappears for a while down one of the many rabbit holes around our land.

A big welcome from not so sunny Watford, Hertfordshire, from Helen, Derhound Murphy and Border Terrier Paddy!
I was sceptical about bringing a terrier into our house again, preferring the hounds, but these two are beautiful together, playing and cuddling, it helps having a submissive DH, who really doesn't mind who plonks their head in his bowl while he is having his tea! He has just terrorised the terrier though out on the fields, it is funny to watch him do fly by's, though terrier doesn't think so and kindly removed some of Murphy's coat! Boys will be boys and I hope your two have as much fun as mine do, they are good together hounds and terriers.
You must be in puppy heaven at the moment! I remember that feeling.
My DH was exceptionally clean in the house, not a wee or pooh overnight, probably down to it being summer and also because you got her from lovely people!

Welcome Ailish & John from British Columbia Canada. I like that Murphy and Freya are getting to know one another while Freya is still a small pup as it will make things easier once she gains the advantage of size. Good to sort out the politics now. Mind I have a four pound Shizoodle staying the summer and it is charming to watch her play with my youngest deerhound Rufus as he is unfailingly gentle with her - one squeak and he spits her right out

Hi again, thanks for all the good wishes. What a time waster! - washing and ironing piling up, garden needing weeding, although Freya seems more than willing to help on that front She has become a lot more curious so John went off to the wood yard yesterday for more fencing! She's grown taller than Murphy in a week -poor Murph won't know whats happening as she sprouts way above him. Still, I give up teaching next Friday and then we will both be around -one puppy watching and one catching up with the more boring chores! Would love to visit a show to see how it all works and to meet some of the other DHs and owners. Well done to Foggy whom we had read all about on the forum before getting Freya. Ailish

Hi Aislish and John,

Pleased to hear that Freya is settling in so well. We did laugh about the rate she is growing in relation to Murphy. Poor Murphy is not going to know what's hit him once Freya is full grown.

I am so envious of you being able to stay at home.

Is Freya helping with the garden?

Purples puppy, Idun, can go one better than gardening according to Purple's OH. Idun thinks things that are in the house (like cushions) should be in the garden and things that are in the garden (like plants) should be in the house. I dread to think of the mess she is making.

I can describe it in detail if you like Sally or you can have photos. I've just removed a plant pot shaped plug of compost from her bed along with umpteen twigs. Oh she's also decided that Loki shouldn't be on the sofa and so bites his knees or toes if she finds him there. Little madam!

Hi and welcome to the the site, your puppy is beautiful. My name is Annette and Iive in a small village called Greenside, approx 8 miles from Newcastle, our dogs are Lottie whippet x terrier approx age 16 to 17 and Meg a x terrier aged 10 both rescue dogs and Lana the Deerhound aged 11 1/2. We have owned Lana for 20 months she is a joy and still likes to play and dig!!! She is a very loving dog the 3 of them get on fine although I think that Lottie was a bit put out when Lana came to us.
Good Luck and best wishes Annette
