TOPIC: Hi

Hi 2 years, 8 months ago #14886

Hi everyone, I am new to this site & just wanted to say Hi.

I currently have a Leonberger who is 8yr and I am in love with the Deerhound breed. I am looking to get one, however am considering a rehome option as I feel this is always a good option. I am not sure if there are many rehomes for this breed. If not any good breeders in the Suffolk / Cambridge area????

The people down my road have a Leonberger called Odin, they bought him from a breeder called Dawn (Hawker/Harker I think) and sure she lives Sussex are. Someone may want to correct me on Dawns name! but her prefix is Ghilladare??? again, I think!

All totally irrellevent I know. I think Joyce Bond lives in the Suffolk area (Regalflight)

Hi and a warm welcome to the site. Deerhounds are in short supply as a rescue. If you really want a rescue D/H then best bet is to join the Deerhound club and go on the waiting list with Sue Reynols the D/H rehoming officer. There is a long waiting list so may be best to buy your own baby deerhound and have all the fun and pleasure of bringing it up to be the hound that you want

Thanks everyone - well I have since met Joyce & have also rehomed one of hers that had come back to her - so I now am the proud owner of a lovely 5yr old male! He is lovely - he absoulty adores my 5mth old who giggles when Mac comes near him!!

I am now looking to buy him a nice new collar & the best bit is my Leo actually loves him - she is normally breedest!! lol

So glad you got your Deerhound, I thought it was Joyce that lived in the area, though I do not know her personally.

Have fun adn well done for rehoming him.

Hi Joy, I think Happy may be from same litter as my Mac, he looks identical. I will have to ask Joyce tomorrow when I see her!! I am due to get all his paper work etc tomorrow, so will know a bit more about him.

Mac loves to run around with my Leo over the airfield, its great to see him run.

Your pack are lovely, I think they are a gorgeous breed, even if they may appear somewhat sad at times. lol

I will post a pic of Mac as soon as he has had his hair cut & looks a bit more presentable!! Well he is male after all. lol
