Hallo!

as so many others, I have been reading this forum for months, enjoyed the stories about deeries in the snow, deeries hunting bears, got usefull hints about not eating deerhound youngsters, so I think it is time to introduce myself.

Six years ago we got our first deerhound, Sally a gentle little lady, and it seemes to be a natural law!, Biro, Sallys niece followed, she is an agile 18 month running girl, and for now, Quentin is our latest deerhound, our 10 month boy from Wales, with a gaze like Richard Gere (my husband says) I think he gazes like Orlando Bloom in Pirate of ..www.scottish-deerhound.co...cons/smile.png,

And because we have a huge garden here in the countryside between Augsburg and Ulm, we have another dog, Tim , crossbreed, the voice!, thrown over our fence, ten years ago, Lady our appaloosa mare, for so many years my wonderful therapy horse, Fleur a swiss carthorse, with a personality disorder, she thinks, she is pure thoroughbred!www.scottish-deerhound.co...ons/shocked.png Six rehomed cats, sharing the warm and cosy beds with the deeries in front of the fireplace.

As soon as I understand how to minimise pictures I will upload some.

Hi there Biro and welcome to the forum !
Your home and ( extended ) family sound wonderful and cozy !!! I can only ( and barely ) fit in 4 deerhounds and 3 cats ....- luckily tons of wildlife around us , so we do not feel lonely .
Nice pics of your dogs - unfortunately I could not access the links and am sooo curious .
I grew up around Munich and had some relatives in Augsburg - so , it sounds a bit familiar to me - haven't been back in Germany though in 14years I think .
Hope to see more pics and hear more stories of ou assorted animals,

Hello and welcome from us too - dogs Murphy a Lakeland terrier and Freya a 9 month DH. A much reduced family as the children are all gone now as have the rabbits, guinea pigs 3 former dogs hamsters etc - the animals are all in a little graveyard at the bottom of the garden. However, apart fom me wanting another DH we are happy with our two rascals for the moment. you must indeed have a huge garden to keep all your large family -sounds wonderful and look forward to a family photo soon.
Last Edit: 2 years ago by crackadog. Reason: bit about the animals was muddled

Thank you all for your warm welcome!

A big disadvantage of living in the countryside is a very slowly internet connection, so that is one reason for answering lately.

The other reason was a little Sunday morning disaster. I am in charge of the brother of Biro until he is recovered from castration. Therefore he has to wear a huge cone (?) you know this thing made of plastic? Yesterday when I was fully concentrated to reactivate my school English, typing on my laptop, Bri visited me and bowled my cup of earl grey down with his cone. I bounced up with the laptop in my hands, the chair tumbled down, Bri jumped out of his skin, rushed backwards, stumbled on the little table with the puzzle jigsaw on it and at least 2000 pieces of an almost made puzzle dropped to the ground. I stood speechless with the laptop in my hands, didn`t know whether I should laugh or cry. Bri himself started licking the tea, which run down to the puzzle pieces.

So I had a lot of things to do yesterday!

Verena: If I would have the choice between Augsburg and Canada, I would absolutely prefer Canada, and not little Munich.

Joerg: I saw your lovely Yoki as she was just three weeks old.

And I will post some pics when I learnt how to put more than one pic in a post. And when I will be at home from work….

Sounds like an entertaining morning - I just hope the puzzle wasn't called " The Wheat Field " or " Blue Sky " or something similar ....

Hi Biro and welcome to the site, love the pics of your dogs. We live just outside Melbourne with 4 Deerhounds a Greyhound and a Whippet, not as big a family as yours, but it certainly keeps us busy.

Hi Biro and welcome from Tasmania. We have 3 hounds and recently lost 2 cats. Hounds and felines always lay together infront of the fire.

Nice - I have a couch and a loveseat for 4legged only ( some visitors will sit on them every so often , much to the dismay of the hounds who are not used to humans using their beds...) , my couch usually has a couple of chairs placed on it , just to bring home the point - not that this would hinder the cats..
Biro looks all leggy/gangly/racy/beautiful teenager - where is she from ?

Hallo!
You did a perfect description of Biro.
She is an outcross with a swiss father Fingall from Highlanders yard (going back f.e to Lyonhil etc) an american grandfather Lehigh (going back to Fernhill)and a Kilbourne Grandmother. Her mother was the A-litter of our little kennel.
(The reason for the outcrossing was some thoughts about keeping vast genetic variety.)

Greetings from Bayerisch Schwaben where is less snow than in the north of Germany. Very uncommon...

Hello May Britt, nice to meet you here. Cait is still waiting for your visit. If it is a little less snow, we can try to catch the lure. Look, here is a photo from Cait at coursing last sunday.
