Hi Everybody
I've been checking this page out for a while and thought I should introduce myself as I have just posted on the "why do people like hounds" thread. I just couldn't resist!
My name is Libby and I don't yet have a Deerhound.
I've grown up with Afghans and currently have a rescued Affie dog (called Tazi)and a Greyhound (called Milly). They are the bestest of friends and get on so well that adding a Deerhound to our family will have to wait a bit.
However I am determined that the next dog will be a Deerhound. I have admired them for so so long I just don't think I can go past them.
Sadly we have very very few here in New Zealand. I don't believe there is anyone actively breeding them and to my knowledge the last two Deerhounds were imported in 2002 and 2005. So I guess if I want one I'll have to import from Australia or somewhere else nearby.
We live on a 10 acre block near the capital city of Wellington in the North Island. Its a beautiful spot where we are lucky to have large areas deer fenced so the dogs can run around to their hearts content.
I hope you don't mind the wannabes checking out all your beautiful hounds
Thanks and Hi
Libby
