Brice looking pensive

Brice and Chase aged 7 and a bit weeks

Not intimidated by the size of his brother

Third birthday pic

Retriever

Flower power

Is this car too small for me?

Chase my young man who I hope will excell in show (already brought home a few BOB's at Open level) and trialing

Mugi aged 12, a rescue Brittany who has now qualified for Crufts twice despite starting showing at almost 11!! He also works on a shoot weekly. The only downside is that he and Brice can't get on:( . dealt with as I can keep them apart 24/7 with a little forethought

Brice and his favourite brother Freddy the welshie.

A lovely lot for sure. Brice of course captured my heart. My Cailean & her sister Electra used to travel in style in my small car too.

A more recent one (or two) of 'himself' taken on a one to one walk without any pesky gundog types to get in the way

Brice is a fabulous dog who has had one or two unfortunate events in his life because he expects everyone to love him. With humans he is sooooo friendly, with dogs he has unfortunately learned that all can't be trusted so I need to be careful.

He used to do some showing but now is more comfortable not, although he came second in a huge compnion dog Open Class after not showing for a year. He loved the sausage and relaxed, but not enough for me to take him to a more 'serious' show again.

I could waffle on for hours about how fabulous he is, what a loving companion he is, how I wouldn't be without him but I guess you all understand that.

I love working my gundogs too and I must be honest and say that in many ways they will always be my first love BUT I adore the deerhound attitude to life and I hope to have him for many many years to come. Our cuddles are very special and as I have been quite seriously ill this last year I have really appreciated his care of me............he knew when I was down and always came for a quiet cuddle while avoiding my scars.

sorry to hear that you have been unwell but whether people have physical or mental illness's dogs are wonderful therapy and especially deerhounds. They seem to have that gentle telepathy that just knows when an extra special kiss/cuddle is needed.

I so agree, he was the only one of the 4 that lived with me post surgery that cared. He has often had a bull in a china shop attitude to life (partly I think cos he thinks he is a springer and has no idea he is hooge) but as soon as I was home he was a careful hound. He sleeps on my bed and as I had scars on either side of my body he avoided touching me at all - quite a feat for a dog of his size!!! Now mind you he is back to lying where he wants in the bed and I have to make do or have cramp:laugh: .

I have a leather chair in my bedroom that 'belongs' to Murray and he simply has to sleep in it at night but for the past few nights he has slept on my bed with Smokey the greyhound. I can honestly say that I have hardly slept at all. If would lay along side me it may not be so bad but he sleeps across my legs so pins me into one position. Totally my fault as I haven't got the heart to move him

Your just too soft !

When I was young I would encourage my Lab to come in my bedroom and sleep on my bed, but after a while he used to start snoring. I would put up with it for as long as I could, but eventually I had to kick him out - back to the kitchen.

Xena is actually pretty good on the bed, though she does take liberties. If she happens to be lying on my side when I go to bed, she automatically gets up and moves and when jumping up onto the bed and I'm already in it, she never, ever lands on you. She always manages to miss
Lockie on the other hand nearly broke my foot the other night, jumping up and pinching Xena's spot while she went out to relieve herself

I have made the mistake of taking all of my four dogs up to bed with me. The worst one for pinching the space on the bed is Ziggy, my lurcher (Deerhound Beddlington cross) she is the smallest of the four but she always lays across my legs.....to soft to chuck her off so my fault I guess:blush:

My other lurcher is happy to wonder off into her open cage but Twist always starts off on the floor next to me (not me on the floor though...lol) with his head on the edge of the bed. Odelle has her bed at the end of the bed......dont know what I would do if they all wanted the bed
Never judge a book by its cover.........always look deeper!www.gringleygringo.com

Mine can't sleep in my bed when I am in - my back will protest the next day - but Hermione ( now 7mths old ) has taken to help me when I do my (back)exercises - by lying accross my chest , my belly , or , as I do , straight on her back , squeezed in really close besides me , usually one frontleg across my throat or or or , it is a lot of fun and very sweet , but not so effective for the back .
Of course , an idiot like Ceasar Milan would say , that she is very , very dominant....

Re:Pics of the gang 3 years, 4 months ago #4228

If Lockie comes up for a snuggle before hubby comes to bed, he rests his head or feet across my chest which I find very endearing but I agree that CM would think it being dominant. When it comes to humans, Lockie doesn't know how to be dominant just loving and (reasonably) obedient.

Xena starts well on the bed but by morning she has stretched across the bed and I find myself clinging precariously to the edge of the mattress

Both my hounds sleep on the bed with me. It often seems to be a bit of a race to get the best place....usually I loose and end up squeezing in on the edge and shoving the girls over. I often wake up with a paw up my nose or a bottom laying sedately on the pillow next to mine. But they do keep me warm on these cold nights
