Hi all - thought i'd introduce myself.
its the first deerhound forum ive found,
i currently dont have a deerhound , but one day will be owned by one,

but thats a while off yet - i have currently 9 dogs, one is a lurcher
and the others are sprollie x lurchers,they are getting in to there twilight years now - although someone forgot to tell them that,
and wouldnt cope with a young bouncy deerhound, but it dont mean i cant learn and read more about them,whilst i am waiting.

i know one or two user names already from the lurcher forum i go on.

Welcome Jane.9???!!! It must be hard to find a seat at night is it?I have 2 d/hs and a greyhound,who thinks the sofa is his alone,he gives us dirty looks if he can't get on it.

With Penny we dont know if she has deerhound in her or not, we do know she has beddy and greyhound in her, but when you look at beddy x greys - none ever look anything like her,
on one forum i go on though, a bloke on there said he's old dog was the spitting image of her, he's was deerhound/greyhound x beddy/ greyhound (i think), so its anyones guess to whats in her lol - her coat is soft though.

Penny is very pretty

I would say Penny has alot of DH in her, here is a picture of our friends Beddy/Whippet,
Alfie, although he looks like a deerhound that has been on a hot wash! There isn't
anything I would say is remotely DH about him, not like your Penny

I think i am going to have to sort out going to see her old owner,
from what i know he had her sire, so hopefuly he will be able to remember whats in her,
its just finding the time to go down lol, i do know she was breed for working, and was worked before i got her over 6 years ago, but she had been passed from piller to post - before she landed with me, and although at the age of about 14 - 15, shes still nutty as ever,
but has been a fantastic dog to have a round - verry easy.

Welcome and I hope you don't have to wait to long for your DH, I was wait in about three years and it is worth it I promise you. But you do have a dog just like a DH (Penny). I only have my DH in two month and I adore him, he is the best dog I ever had. I can't tell why, but I think it is because he is the only dog I have choose by myself. I have had dogs all my life but this is still the only one I have choose. Perhaps that's the reason that I love him so very much.

What a great bunch of dogs you have. Penny has a very cute "nutty" look about her. She looks a lot of fun
