AS I can understand it is many of us having horses too, not only DH. I think it will be nice to see everybodys horses. So please present your horse here.

I start with mine. I have a North Swedish Draft, she is 15 years, I have her for two. She is a lovely horse, flexible like a cat, despite to her size. Her name is Ronja (it's the brown horse) The other horse I have is Emil, he is a Norweigan cold blood trotter (have no idea what it calls i english) he is 18 yeras and I have him in a half year. I have just got him for free from hes owner. She just wanted him to have a good home. I have borrowed him for some month and now they have given him to me He is a very nice horse to. I do academic riding, don't know if everybody is faimiliar with that? It is dressage in a little bit different way.
I have had a lots of horses like swedish warmblood, angloarabian, english pony and one thoroughbred to but this two is my best horses ever. They are so firendly and funny to ride.
Here is a picture from christmas day when we where out for a little trip.

This is my horse Connor. Connor is a 3/4 Thoroughbred. His is still a baby at 2 1/2
and hasn't been broken in to ride yet.

He used to belong to a gypsy family who intended to race him in a sulky but then he got
tetanus and had various other problems so we bought him. He is sound now though and
you would not guess that he was ever ill if you could see him racing around his field.

This is not a very good photograph of him but I will wait until he gets his summer coat
and I will take some more.

O he is beautiful. Good luck to him that you find him. How are gypsy's in UK with their horses?
My mom are now in Portugal and there are the gypsys not good with their horses at all.In sweden it is ok I think they are most interested in trotter horses.

Connor is perfect size is it irish cob or thinker mixed with Thorougbred?

Is he papered Trish? Welsh cobs and ponies are my true love and until Connor came along
(after a break from horses for 8 years) Welsh ponies and cobs was all I ever owned.
My daughters learnt to ride on section A, progressed to B's, C's and part-breds.

My own pony, before Connor, was a Welsh Sec.D, Tardebigge Emperor. By Sydenham solomon
X Tardebigge Empress.

Connor is 15hh, I'm not sure what that is in metric. I still use the old measurement of
hands (1 hand = 4 inches).

I think your are right, he has some cob in him as well but very little. He has very
little feathering on his legs but he is not fine enough to be pure Thoroughbred.

No he isn't papered. I bought him from a riding school - he was the horse that I was having regular lessons on and we had a real bond. I was looking to buy my own horse and asked if he was for sale. They had bought him at a horse sale . I was very lucky - he is a super horse

Not sure what you meen by this last line? .
They are usually well looked after so long as they have some monetary value and are used as a type of currency (maybe not a bad thing),but their life expectancy is very short for obvious reasons. I'm not really a horse person but Conner very much appealed to me so hopefully he will have a better life with us.

Lovely horses and Ponies. Unfortunately horses and I don't get on very well. Doesn't matter how hard I have tried, they always get the better of me and I end up in some sticky situation so I am better off leaving them alone

Houndy: Your horse is great and in a very good condition. He looks just fine. I like cob too but I never have had any.

Alan: Not sure what you meen by this last line?

I'm not either Do you mean about the cob mixed with thorougbred? I just mean that I like the type of horse Connor is, they are little more heavy then for example purebred thorougbred. My horses are too little more heavy, Emil I think is perfect, Ronja is little bit to heavy sometimes but she's doing fine anyway. Houndy,s horse is also in perfect size for me I really like this type of horse. They are perfect for academic riding to, they often are easy to do piaff and passage and levade it is not dificult to them in some reason.

This is Prince. A cob of unmentionable age (wouldn't want to be rude) stands 15hh. He came to me 4yrs ago after retiring from working with disabled riders. Originally from Ireland, he is a true gentleman and lives a very nice retirement life, hacks out 2-3 times a month, he lives out all summer and comes in at night during the winter.

Re:Our horses 3 years, 3 months ago #5382

This is Mickey, 16.3hh, 7/8th bred, born 2000. He is a real character, not a novice ride, but good fun. This was him getting placed at the Scottish Sports Horse Championships. Lack of time means he just hacks out now but I've enjoyed having him all his life, his mother was a lovely horse to look at, but she was a typical Chestnut Mare who hated everybody. Mickey loves everyone and everyone loves him (although not many ever want to sit on him)

You must have the names the wrong way round Anne. Surely Mickey is the Irish cob and Prince should
be the 7/8 bred. I think they are both lovely but I prefer Mickey, Prince is a little to heavy for my tastes.
He's very nice just the same. Have you got any more pics that show off Mickey better?

Rob must think we have all gone mad. Horses on a Deerhound Forum! but that is why I like it, we can discuss
almost anything within reason.

Re:Our horses 3 years, 3 months ago #5408

Not looking his best, very roughed off, now you see why he is just plain Mickey;) He did a bit BSJA (Mixing Dixies, is his posh name) but he wasn't mature enough to buckle down and get on with it, so now he just hacks. I love Prince because he is so safe anyone can ride him. This means when folk visit we can go for a ride and see the countryside. I'm very fond of the sturdy safe types, in fact I'm looking for one for a friend of mine so if you know of a young cob (mature 14-15hh) 1-2yr looking for a permanent easy home, let me know (don't bother if they want silly money for it) I don't see the point in spending a fortune on a horse that will only be ridden 5-6 times a month.

I've enjoyed looking at all your fab beasts. Horses and dogs do go together, a film maker has asked to shoot (with the camera, I hope) horses and hounds charging across the fields. I'm just perfecting the velcro saddle for Mickey, (he gets a bit excited when out with the dogs)
