Hello again from down under, We have two deerhounds Taog, who we show (litter brother to Brollachan's Lockie) and Aila, who we don't and a muttley lurcher thing which we think is a poodle x whippet (she's about 13 years old and only comes up to the deerhounds knees but she's definitely the boss).

This website is a great idea, it will be great keeping up with the deerhound enthusiasts from around the world, and all the show videos and results. We will have to try and supply some video of our own shows (although we'd be lucky to get more than one dog in a class, and most judges have never seen one!)

Hi there. Have you seen www.scottish-deerhound.co...=25&catid=4 . We also have a Whippet Poodle cross, who is also the boss (well tries to be)! We have to get her clipped out every few months, but we do it ourselves now, we're not too bad either - I don't know if Tousie would agree...

Yes We saw your thread and thought it was great.. We prefer the term Pippit though
This is her with all her hair but we recently had to shave it all off because she walked though the biggest prickle bush and got covered! she looks much more like a whippet now.

Haha, that is so funny! that is exactly what our girl looks like shaved...as soon as I find the camera I will put up a photo (alternatively you can just look at your photo again, add a bit more grey round the muzzel and pretend it's our dog).

Someone at a show once suggested we call her a peruvian shortlegged deerhound. I definitely think there is a market out there for them

We think she's around the 13 yrs old mark. We rescued her at about 10 so she's getting on a bit and really doesn't appreciate the young Deerhound playing ten-pin bowling with her off a 50m run-up (his absolute favourite game)

She's lovely and also reminds me of our other Lurcher Hettie. She's younger than your girl and can be somewhat on the wild side. Her mother was a Whippet/Bedlington which is a very common small lurcher type in the UK. Her father was unknown!

You should really read the washing instruction label!! It looks like the pippet has been put on a 60c hot wash and shrunk somewhat!!
Beautiful though, amazing how 2 completely different breeds can end up looking so much alike!!
