TOPIC: Hello from Rob Horsfield - Site Admin

Hello from Rob Horsfield - Site Admin 4 years, 2 months ago #6

Hi
My name is Rob Horsfield. I've created this site to allow deerhound owners around the world meet.
I first became involved in Deerhounds when I met my partner Elise. We have a son together Lachlan who is just over 1 year old. We don't have room for a deerhound at the moment as we have 3 rescue lurchers, Hettie, Marra and Tousie. However Elise's Mother, Claire Cartmell, Breeds Cusidh Deerhounds, so we never seem to go for long without some sort of deerhound interaction!
Welcome to the forum.

Rob

We've been asked to show some pictures of our lurchers - well at least one of them looks like a deerhound! Here they are Hettie (on the left), Marra (the blue merle) and Tousie. Hettie is about 5 years old and her mother was a whippet x bedlington. Marra is 13 and we think is a collie x whippet. Tousie is 10 and is a poodle x whippet. Unfortunately, Tousie is not on top form at the moment as she's recently been diagnosed with an enlarged heart. However, her current medication seems to be helping a lot. They all came from my mother's hound rescue in Fife. Together we've tried lure coursing, agilty and CaniX with varying degrees of success. They're also often seen as the support team with the Deerhounds at shows and do their best to whip the Deerhounds into shape.

Hi Rob, Just testing...that I am doing it right. Not all Aussies are as slow as me, I actually do not access the internet very often, but thought your website was worth a go.
Thanks for your promptness and help.By the way, love your photos...Sandra.

Rob your lurchers are beautiful,

and not even having a deerhound yourself it is even more brilliant and generous of you to create this forum!

Thanks Beau they are fantastic dogs.
Elise is just so involved in the deerhounds. If I wasn't involved too we'd have nothing to talk about! Its nice to be included in you partners hobbies, but I was never going to be into showing the deerhounds. I do enjoy the going to the shows and being with the dogs, but I'm better with websites! So this is my way of being involved, kind of on my own terms. Its better than just watching from the sidelines, at least when I go to a show I've got a personal interest in being there, not just to support Elise.

Sounds like my husband He will not get involved in the showing but helps me out with sideline handling. Not always so sure he is happy about coming but he does, and that is a big help for me.

My partner, Alan, says he thought he'd never see the day when he went to dogs shows but now he shows the dogs as well.
