Hello!
My name is Nat, and we have two wonderful deerhounds, Bernard and Elfin.
We got Bernard in 2005 and he was our first deerhound, so we are very new to the breed. Bernard and Elfin are littermates, and we got Bernard from the wonderful Chris and Glenda at Bhealaich Kennels, and Elfin we got 18 months ago from the wonderful Richard at Mapleridge Kennels.
Although I got Bernard as a pet, we occasionally go to shows and have a great time with friends. Elfin has been speyed, so we do not show her, but I enter her in spey/neuter classses at some shows, and she thinks it's great fun!
They both love chasing rabbits and foxes and swimming at the beach.
Very shortly we will be getting a new pup, that we would like to show.
I have been reading this forum for a little while, and have learned heaps, and I look forward to learning heaps more.
I also look forward to "meeting" other deerhound owners from around the world!

Nat, James, Bernard and Elfin

(PS. As soon as I work it out, I will post photos of our "kids". Computers hate me, and I am not too fond of them either, so it may take a while!)

Hi Nat

Welcome! I hope that you still find loads of interesting and useful information now that you have joined this bunch of mad deerhound lovers!
Seriously though, I hope that you enjoy this Forum, as much as I do - but it does become addictive!

Thank you all so much for your very warm welcome!

We have exciting news.... today we picked up our new pup, a 12 week old bitch pup, "Mapleridge Outfoxin"(name pending), or "Ronnie" to her friends! (She was James' birthday present, so he got to name her. *sigh*)

She is sired by Bernard and Elfin's littermate brother, and we think she is GORGEOUS! Thank you to Richard and Graeme of Mapleridge Kennels!

Another puppy photo, just cos I can!

She learned to climb the stairs on her own today, but I am concerned that going up and down stairs will be bad for her young joints. Does anyone have any advice?

Lurch - my mother is from St Albans, Hertfordshire and we were lucky enough to visit there last year. It is absolutely beautiful.

Are you near there?

(Dad is from Pinner, Middlesex. James' family live in Birmingham, but are from Glasgow. He emigrated to Australia about 8 years ago)
