Saw the ad in the 'for sale' section for a good home for a Deerhound - well, he arrived this morning! He is gorgeous. He is between 8 and 9 years old and ATM murray, Carys and Smokey are busy checking him out - so far so good

His name is Bonnie (!) After Bonnie Prince Charlie..We have been out for 2 walks so far (I kept him on the lead for now) and he was excellent! He has had a good supper and is now curled up fast asleep by Carys (I think he fancies her). He was advertised on here in the 'for sale' section. I phoned up the person who was rehoming him on Wednesday night and he drove down with Bonnie today. How lucky am I to now have 3 deerhounds, 1 greyhound and 4 parrots

I cant't stop wondering why anybody sell a dog in that age? Why didn't they kept him the few years he has left? It was good for you that they didn't but I should never in my life sell away such an old dog. Ok if they absolutley not could have him moore, yes of course that could happened. Good for him that you take care of him anyway, hope you will have good days together all of you. Can someone drop at DH over me to I will be glad....

I was thinking that too, how could they sell him at that age. At least Houndy found him and is giving him the loving home he should have, well done Houndy.

Did you manage to find out anything about his pedigree? how long they had had him for? or where they bought him from?

If you check out the piece, you'll find that he wasn't for sale. His elderly owner had had a severe stroke and was unlikely to be able to care for him any longer. The family couldn't keep him either, so they were anxious to find him a new knowledgeable home as soon as possible. It looks like they've succeeded; well done, Houndy.

Bonnie appears to have settled in ok. He was good overnight having secured a place on the sofa When I got up this morning Carys, Smokey and him were all cuddled up together,
I took them all to the beach this afternoon. We went to see the set they are building for the new Harry Potter film. Bonnie seemed to enjoy running with the others and likes going into rock pools
