It was really interesting to hear from Brochallan in Australia about one of her Deerhounds, Lockie. It's amazing to think that dogs separated by thousands of miles share many pedigree lines. For example, Ardkinglas Sam in Lockie's and our Cusidh lines. So I was wondering what Deerhounds were the first to come over to Australia and to other countries for that matter. Elise

It's such a facinating topic. There is an article about the history of Deerhounds in Australia at:

It is really detailed (too much to repeat here) but it looks like deerhounds were first used by the settlers for hunting as early as 1841.
