Has anyone got any ideas, my Deerhound (bless him) is in bad books at the moment.
I have a three month old German Shepherd pup who's ears are doing there best to come
up, my Deerhound is doing his best to stop this by pulling and chewing them!!
I am thinking of using a liquid for stopping nail biting? anybody else had this
problem.

You could try rubbing mustard or washing-up liquid on the ears. It works as long the dog doesn't like the taste. (Make sure there's no broken skin where applied!)

There is a substance that they sell at pet shops that tastes nasty to dogs. I used it to stop Benn chewing the furniture when he was a puppy. You'd need to check that it was safe to put on a dogs skin first of course. It certainly stopped Benn from chewing furniture.

I think it is called bitter apple. I'm not sure about spraying it on the dog though. It is very effective though.

when Clunie had her tail accident to try and stop her chewing the bamadages we used Chew Stoppa Spray which is primarily used for stopping chewing furniture etc but is safe for wound dressings. however it does say not to sray directly onto any exposed part of the wound. However the ears aren't a wound so i would think that it could work. But I have to agreew ith the suggestion of washing up liquid or bitter apple. Another suggestion that we had for Clunie was tea tree oil but as a spray.. Not sure if you can get it.Good luck with the pup's ears - maybe your deerhound is jealous of the pricked up ears taht the pup is getting?

have to try it. German Shepherds dont look the same with floppy ears.

We have a spewcific spray here called Bitter Taste-Stop Chew. It is made by Biogroom. I used to use it on Xena to stop her licking. It used to drive me insane.
