Ok..this is odd. We're out for a walk this morning..2 young women, maybe about 21 or 22 yr old come walking by...pass, then stop and come back, one asks what kind of dog is he? Before I answer, she says, gee, he looks like a werewolf . Zippo ...our baby Zippo, a werewolf. She tells me she's afraid of dogs...but thinks he's 'neat'...& asks if she can pet him. He lays down and she bends to touch him..he can tell she's nervous so he rolls onto his side. Oh..wow..she tells her friend to come touch him..he feels so neat. By the time he's done his 'magic on them, she asks if we live near by, and maybe she could walk him one day. Hmmm a werewolf??

Well, except for the horns, what is the difference then between a deerhound and a goat?

Good question (grin).... they are wiry coated and they do have a beard! Color might be a dead giveaway -- seen very few DH-colored goats. As I tell people Deerhounds come in grey, grey, grey, grey, and very occasionally, grey!

I do have to say "goat" is perhaps my most original. I've had "is that an" Afghan, Airedale, Elkhound, you name it... and let's not start on the whole "where's the saddle" comments (eye roll)

Then you must have gotten it must be a greyhound .. because it is grey..Hmm..guess again. Last week a guy fixing a poyhole thought he was a Borzoi..close, but no cigar. Hey, I was impressed simply that he knew what a Borzoi was..a dog.

We have heard heaps, but one of my favourites was "German Afghan" and when I corrected her, se said "ooooooh! a Beerhound!".

My all time favourite was at the Royal Show a few years ago when a little boy (maybe about 5 years old) came around the corner to see about 30 Deeries on benches in a long row, all fast asleep.

He stopped dead, looked amazed and called back to his mother, "Look Mummy!!! Giant rats!!!"
