Just wanted to let you all know that I have just comissioned a double portrait of Twist and Oldelle by Christine varley and it is fantastic. She caught there mood/look etc fantastically. Worth every penny.
Will post a pic when I can work out how to do it.

Couldn't sleep last ...so spent hours looking on line..for info on the print I spoke of earlier, but sadly, still haven't scanned. But..I found this: Cambridge's Fitzwilliam Museum is having a " Anglo - Saxon Art - in the round ' exhibit..wish I was close enough to attend..

Also..before going off. I'm wondering..when I was involved in Afghans and Borzoi..I was a crazy person collecting art..lots of art ..antiques..prints, statues, porcelain..on and on. Even while in the Middle East..lots avail...but, with Deerhounds..it is much much more difficult to find nice pieces??? The only good thing ( and I say ...but wish otherwise) is the amount of $$$$$$ I'm not spending)

Hi Cassandra
Was very interested to read about the Anglo-Saxon art at the Fitzwilliam as I am teaching my class about Anglo-Saxons at the moment and thought it would be a nice day trip. Unfortunately the Cambridge exhibit was last year, it has now moved to Norwich which is just a little to far for a day trip. But it does look very interesting.

I must admit to being an avid collector of Deerhound art and if you look round there is quite a bit to be found. It doesn't have to be expensive, I've got a nice collection of DH cigarette cards which I picked up for $2 or $3 on ebay. There are also some very good bronzes around I have 3 which I bought both here and in the UK. There are of course many Lanseer and Dicksee prints around of various ages and conditions, I think my favourite of these is the 19th century print I have of Dicksee's Silent Sympathy which is just such a great drawing of a DH. I also got a very good drawing of one of my dogs by selling a pup to a well known local artist and took the drawing as the price. If anyones interested I'll get Dave to post some pics.

Contact Leo and Robin Paisey for Deerhound cigarette cards and many Deerhound prints.
I commissioned Anne Seward at Bradford-on-Avon who has done 3 portraits of my dogs met her initially at CLA game fair in the 1980,s she can capture that look with each dog and any breed.
I often wonder what will others make of them when i,m pushing up the daisy,s!! I have portraits of Deerhounds known only by pet names which I,ve brought no breeding details just someones once loved pet.

I can see why you fell in love with it. As well as being incredibly clever it is actually a lovely picture of a deerhound.
