We are still waiting for Daisy's first season. Can we expect a change to her coat when she does have one?

Thanks

We now think she is going to be in season imminently as she is licking a lot and Mack is chattering and drooling.

There can be no answer to this as to "when" and "if". Ive a 13 month bitch pup that has not had a season yet her mothers first season wasnt full blown but the second was.
As to coats, they all vary so much in terms of maturity, it is generally considered that the longer the time the better.
I really wouldnt worry just bide your time she will develope at her own pace, this is why Miss Noble and others used to say that pups were better left at home than the show ring to grow and mature and enjoy puppyhood.

Yes we only showed Mack once as a pup and then started with him again at about 19 months. Daisy has had a handful of shows, we will combine the summer shows with holidays.

I am pleased she has gone her first 14 months without coming into season. The nice thing about having two young dogs is they do have such a lovely puppyhood playing together. To be honest I think they will keep each other young. I can't imagine a time when they won't be horseplaying around.

Oh sorry! I didnt mean to never show it seemed to read as that.
My pup has been out twice but I,m really particular which venue and where, its so nice to have the summer season and often the outdoor Agriculture Shows are good ones with lots of socialising and more to the point bigger rings!
I avoid small halls and slippery surfaces many a promising hound puppy has been ruined for a show career after having a bad experience.

I knew what you meant

You are right though, I know of one puppy (not deerhound) that was traumatised after going to Newark and being terrified of the big blowers they use there to warm the hangers.

I've never noticed any major change in Bree's coat when she is in season but have heard of others that drop their coat. It may be an individual or line thing.

Nothing much seemed to happen to Clunie's coat after she had her first season at just over 13 months. Unfortunately she got pneumonia during her first season ( January ) so that was fun!

Before she came into season she was forever licking herself and Fynn our neutered lurcher kept on trying to mount her...She also temprement wise was a mixture of being unusually crabbit and clingy..But I think it's each dog to their own. I think that every owner of a female dog would give you different signs etc to watch out for...

Good luck anyway. We are just waiting for madam to have her second season which I suspect is imminent..
