I was just reading the NZKC Breed Standard www.nzkc.org.nz/br452.html and noticed this line which I don't think I have read anywhere else

The Scottish Deerhound has an unusual cry.

Now, as far as I know, they bark like any dog, they whimper/yelp like any dog and howl like most hounds

Mabe its the unusual cry thats heard - when they take your legs from under you,
or when there so excited, they decide to head but you.

Yes there are a few of those

or perhaps it is Woof Woof

Or maybe woooof woooof
