Hi guys, am seriously concidering taking the boys to Sues on 19th, but being a total novice dont know what to expect, do, take etc, etc, etc! Am not sure even if to let boys race or just see how they get on socially as they have never met other DH's before, apart from when pups, and am not sure how they will react! Really dont want a negative experience! HELP!!!!!Gillx

There is nothing negative about a day with team Rose, fear not, we all just muck in and help each other out. Bring dogs and.....well that's about it, Oh you may want to bring some nibbles, tea and coffee are available from the horsebox. There is a toilet (with soft paper) and you can park up the hill. I'll be there with my lot and my mother is bringing Bella

What you have to remember about lure coursing is, no one bothers what your dogs are doing,
there to bizy trying to hold on to there own dogs, take them for the day - you can always go if you think its to much for them or find somewere out of the way of others so the dogs can just watch.

Oh we are coming! Hubby Scott is off that weekend so he is coming too, an extra pair of hands will be good and they do tend to behave when 'dad' is about! gx

If Bella's coming, we'll all be there to witness her run with her pal Jack. Now if Lucy Gillie's bringing her wee mad Pug as well, that would be just perfect.

Wee Jack is not going to be there, no Jake and no Jack Fala will be there so any help with the rugby tackle catching will be most welcome. I fear Bella will try her run from the start to the finish while missing out the round the field bit again, small running mate for her may be a good idea.

Oh boo. No Jack or Jake? However, Sue's got a new Poodle baby - perhaps Bella can teach her how to run!

Thanks again to everyone at Rumbling Bridge for making it a great day out. Weather was great, if a bit on the warm side. Lots of newbies and the mix is getting quite diverse- check it out!!

Had a fab day! Sun was shining, the breeze was a welcome bonus! The craic was great, the dogs got on famously, SO glad we came! Huge thanks to everyone who made Scott and I and of course Jock and Dougal so welcome! The boys did behave themselves, you were all right, the chilled atmosphere rubbed off on them! As far as coursing, well what can I say, Dougal took 5 strides then ran back to me, much to everyone's amusement and his dads embarrassment! Jock managed to get half way round then either gave up or forgot what he was meant to do! He also ran back to me so at least their recall is improving!!! There were some fab dogs there who flew round the course and the adorable beagles that barked all the way round - wonderful! Well done to team Farnorth who came down and visited as part of their hols, 1st timers who followed the lure really well, perhaps you can teach my two?! Hopefully will see you all again in August. Gx

Oh it was excellent! So nice to meet Gill and Scott and Michael & Claire and Team Farnorth and EVERYBODY! Oh, and we ran some fine races as well. Best Deerhound was Team Rose's Rannoch who beat my Dileas in the Deerhound final. We ran a three dog final in the other breeds, which was a nailbiting finish, narrowly won by Bryn from Gyp and Wee Zak, all lurchers. But as well as the sighthounds, we also had a Standard Poodle, the lovely Rupert, and his pal Fred Basset, who ran with wee Bella the almost-a-Beagle, and two real Beagles, who had an absolute ball being sighthounds for the day. One made a bolt for freedom, but was retrieved before he made it to the road. I fear Biggles has discovered his inner scenthound, since he was found tracking rabbits. And as for Marcus the 3/4 greyhound's run with Big Zak, it was just magic. However, the dog everyone wanted to take home was Poodle (Magic), Sue's Standard Poodle puppy. She had a whale of a time and knows no fear = just sashays up to a passing Deerhound and grabs a bit of it to play with, then collapses in a heap when she's tired and sleeps until next time. What a wee star.
I don't know what Sue does to ensure it, but the weather was fine - just the occasional brief shower and later on a nice breeze to keep the dogs cool. Back here at Taylor Acres, it's still trying to rain on Phil's boat-building, which has now reached a critical stage involving fibreglass and epoxy resin. The dogs are crashed out around me and haven't said a word since we got home.
Team Rose, thank you once again for a wonderful day's racing - roll on the next one!
