The CBC in Canada ran a show on Sunday..Pedigree Dogs Exposed (UK)..they had interviews with a Mr Iriving of the Kennel Club, as well as many others incl drs who specialize in genetics. It was interesting, I am going to try to get a copy of it. They mentioned the 2003 Crufts winner - a Peke..Danny, who apparently had surgery to correct his face...hmm.. Anyone see this, or know of it. I didnot see our breed mentioned..ah.

This (very one sided) programme has caused huge ramifications here in the UK. Not just with the content (breeding from dogs with genetic diseases and so on) but the fact there was no real right of reply from the KC. Mind you some of the breeders spoken to didn’t do themselves any favours. The BBC also used the content of the programme as their reason for not showing ‘Crufts’ on TV. It has also, to a lesser extent, led to a bit of a backlash against the RSPCA.
No mention specifically of Deerhounds.
An interesting programme but you need to remember the ‘hidden agenda’ of the programme makers.
I think there is another thread on the forum somewhere.
