Daisy has a broken toe. We are trying to get her to rest it but 4 and a half month old puppies are hard to rest.

I had been practising for her first show in October so that has been shelved for now.

Has anyone got any experience of this, tips etc. How long is the recovery for this?

Poor little Daisy, no haven't had this one, could you not bandage it up and put a sock on with tape, so it feels awkward for her, perhaps she might be reluctanct to move about much with that lot on?

Poor Daisy. You could still do short stacking sessions, at least gtting her to stand still, it all helps. I hope she heals quickly.

Poor sweet Daisy baby - 2 of my deerhounds had broken toes , not as puppies though . It were "clean breaks " , meaning the skin was unharmed and everything seemed " in line " - my girls didn't move much at home and when out on our walks , they were on leash for about 1 week , with a shoe on , a padded shoe that is; after that off leash again , with the shoe on for 1 or 2 more weeks .It took no longer for each one than2 weeks to be completely healed , the shoe stayed on a bit longer just for my comfort . And , they got homoopathic arnica 3times/day.

All the best and speedy healing ,

Verena

Thanks folks. (sorry but have been off line last day etc). Daisy is much brighter and is walking on her foot again. Verenav I think Daisy has the same sort of break - no breaks in the skin. I will try stacking her later on today if she seems happy with that.

Suileag, when she was teething, splayed her feet and she broke a toe. She got over it fairly quickly with restricted exercise. We are still waiting for the injured foot to tighten up though, which is why she has not been seen in the show ring yet. It's a slow business waiting for her to come right!
