We will be showing Daisy soon but I wondered about one thing. She has virtually no white on her chest and just a tiny bit on her back toes. When I first saw her I wondered what was wrong and then I worked it out- she was almost all black as a pup. There is a tiny smidgen on her chest - less that the size of a 5p piece.

Is that good or bad. It says on the standard that white on the chest is permitted but is it essential?

It is not essential - in fact , most breeders I know prefer deerhounds with very little or no white at all ( toes and chest ).
