We went for a wander around the country show at Knebworth today. To give Fergal a bit of fun, we entered him in the knockout lure coursing competition. Much to our suprise he beat lots of little terriers and lurchers, and was only beaten by a fraction in the final by a lightening lurcher.
In the meantime, Robert decided to enter Callie in the dog show they were also running. He came first in junior handler (much to his suprise and our immense pride). However this meant we had to hang about for another 21 classes (and 4 hours) for best in show. We really couldn't drag him home when he was so pleased with himself. It was all worthwhile when he won best in show!! The judge sought us out afterwards to say how well Robert handled a dog 'that obviously wasn't that easy'.
I think you could say we're really quite chuffed!!
Anyway, free tickets. By winning best in show, Robert received a free entry pass to the grand finals being held at the Cheshire Game and Country Fair. This is at the Cheshire show ground in Knutsford next Sunday, the 11th October. The pass is for 2 adults and 2 children. As we'll be at the last BFSA lure coursing of the season next Sunday, if anyone can make use of the pass for a nice day out, please PM us and we'll pop it in the post. The pass is just to get you into the show for free - it doesn't mean you have to enter the dog show or pretend to be us!
