TOPIC: Skye

Skye 2 years, 7 months ago #16132

Hi there,
Some of you will remember that we went to Skye a couple of weeks back. Well because the weather was inexplicably good we have a few nice pics that for no other reason than they'll sit on my hard drive gather computer dust, I thought I'd share with you.

Here's the first - this is Claire with the two of them up the small hill at Claigan Coral Beach

Here's both of us near Plockton which is a lovely place on Lochalsh, the mainland, where Hamish MacBeth was filmed. We had the privilege of just seeing an otter playing in the bay, which is very rare.

And, no I am not expecting a baby: that t-shirt/jumper combo obviously makes me look fatter than I am just now. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it)

and here's Murph and Mara investigating the cottage's "beach". All of the beeches are like that - you don't go to Skye expecting to build sandcastles.

Highlight was when our friend Lucy fell on her backside here - a real You've Been Framed moment. Oh, where is the video camera when you need one...

One more - this is the pair of them on the Armadale - Mallaig ferry. They were really unsure about the whole experience - especially Murph - on the gantry.

Highlight was when we arrived back on Skye we were greeted by a whole bunch of American tourists bedecked in tartan, who wanted the dogs to pose for photos. They were over seeing the MacDonald Clan Centre in Armadale, the historic seat of Clan MacDonald. Our two obliged, of course, but quickly got bored.

If you're ever at the Armadale ferry car park place, drop in and see photographer Grumpy George. He has a couple of gorgeous parrots in a cage outside his shop.

If you enter into a conversation with the parrots you may finally realise that you are, in fact, conversing not with some very clever birds but with George himself, who has rigged up a speaker inside the cage...

Anyway, he took a few pics of the dogs and they should be up on his website next week. Hopefully there'll be some good ones.

Seems like Skye is a pleasant place, it has something I like very much. Your dogs are nice too!

Re:Skye 2 years, 6 months ago #16175

great pics (and thanks for explanation re jumper lol)

I'd love to take Leah there, I think she would like to play on the beach

Isn't someone on here from Mull??? A retired colleague of mine went out to Mull

and has holiday cottages there, it looks really nice too

(plus it's where they filmed "I know where I'm Going" which my Mum

read about in a previous Newsletter and bought me the film!!)

Grumpy George said that his photos weren't up to much, but sent them to me as jpgs.
What do you think?

Here's Murph, looking rather serious but very handsome:

...and here's baby Mara, looking very mischevious we think (which she is):

He's really caught Mara's cheeky wee face so well. Butter wouldn't melt, eh?
