A while ago I rehome Marti, a woolley coated d/h bich who came from Sheffield. She was a pharcourse hound and about 9 years old. She was very thin when she came to me and was failing healthwise.

Two weeks ago she was PTS as she had advanced kidney failure. It was the kindest thing to do for her. She was an absolute pleasure to have the company of. Never lived inside a house before yet not one accident was had. She loved travelling in the car but her biggest joy was her 3 walks a day and running (ambleing) with Murray and Carys.
Nothing fazed her - she was so laid back in her attitude. A true lady - very dignified and graceful.

I miss her so much..and have lost too many dogs this year but each one was and always will be so special and I am humbled to have had them in my life.

I'm so sorry to hear your sad news, Houndy. It's a horrible decision to have to make but you can perhaps get some comfort from the knowledge that it was the kindest thing and the only thing to do for her. More importantly she had a loving home for the end of her life.

Oh Houndy, you didn't need this. However, remember that you did the right thing by your girl and she had a happy life with you, even though it was so short.

sorry to hear your sad news, Houndy. You gave her lots of love and a brilliant home to end her days and that must comfort you.

I am so sorry , too , to read your sad news . But what a wonderful time you gave this sweet and special girl for the last bit of her - formerly sad - life ! So , somehow she " went out on a high note " , having exoerienced what it means to be loved and respected and accepted 100%in the hearts and home of a family !

Oh Houndy can I just echo what others have said that I am so sorry to hear about your news of Marti. At least she had some good times with you and that is what you must rememeber. Also you didn't let her suffer.

Thank you all for your thoughts and comments. You guys on here really do pull together when someone has had a loss or are going through a bad time. We may have a bit of a bicker on times but at the end of the day the one thing that we all have in common is our absolute love of our wonderful deerhounds. Thank goodness for this forum!
