hi what do you recommed about grooming
fern is14mnts old and has a very soft under coat my groomersays she should be stripped at 17 mths before that the coat will come back alot thicker the soft coat is very hard
to keep well groomed and becomes matted
all advice is wellcome

Can't say I'm an expert but I hear lots of people say that you shouldn't strip a Deerhound, I've never stripped mine. I've always found that its best to do a little at a time but do it often. I just use a bristle brush and then comb out the tangles and loose down. I use a metal comb and also a plastoc one in places where my dog is sensitive to which in his case is his face and front neck.

If any badly matted bits develop I just pull the matted fur apart with my fingers to losen it and then just pull or comb it out.

Well that's my experiences to start with but I guess that you'll get plenty more tips from people more experienced than myself.
