TOPIC: Unusual choices of friends

Unusual choices of friends 2 years, 3 months ago #19039

I was just wondering if anyone's hound has ever befriended another animal. Sally and Alans calf for one! There is a nice pic on the Kilbourne website of a Deerhound with a squirrel as a pal, so sweet.
When my husband was little, they had Lurchers, Grehounds and Whippets. Their Dad bought home a fox cub, who they named Freddy (original) and he lived with them, chasing the boys around the garden biting their ankles.

Bree befriended a Paddymelon (type of wallaby) She patted it, it hopped a few times, she patted it again, and gently escorted it off the property. She was so sweet and gentle.
In all honesty she was probably trying to get it to bolt so she could chase it

probably!

As a youngster, if Murphy ever caught a rabbitt, rather than kill it, he would lay with it on the floor, with his big paws over it, washing it! So many rabbitts had this treatment, they must have gone home to their mates and said "You'll never guess what happened to me today...."

Think that I've already mentioned this! Ben once caught a duck in the bushes next to a pond in the fields where I used to walk him. He casually walked over to the pond with the duck in his mouth and dropped it into the water and stood watching it walk away.

Also a friend of mine had a very gentle female Wolfhound and when out for a walk se would chase squirrels/cats/rabbits and then stop and run away expecting them to chase her, when they didn't she stopped and looked round with a very disappointed look on her face.
