TOPIC: great danes

great danes 2 years ago #24160

I had a call yesterday from Irish wolfhound rescue. Would I go and seea IW that had found it's way into great dane rescue. It was not an IW but was in a hell of a state poor boy. Anyway, the lovely couple that runs great dane rescue had some fantastic hounds there. One called Jakey boy took a real shine to me and kept leaning on me. I must confess that I hadnt realised how magnificent these dogs are

They rehome on average 12 dogs per month!! Astounding! and very sad

It is sad for any dog in need of a home. I think you need to open one and run it yourself. Houndy, I do not know how you hear of all these hounds needing homes but you always care and try and help. Well done you.I am happy to foster a whippet if you hear of any in need.

I hear of them as I belong to a couple of different dog forums and know a lot of dog people locally. Dont know if that is a good or bad thing as I seem to end up getting the calls about dogs They know that I cant say NO!

I am afraid that I much prefer dogs to most people and would be quite happy to live in the middle of nowhere surrounded by dogs and other animals. I think that makes me sound like a grumpy old woman

If I hear of a whippet that needs fostering I will PM you!

Thanks HB - it is something I have wanted to do for a long time - pay is crap but having just left a high income job with a pr**t for a boss, a near nervous breakdown and used as a scapegoat when all goes wrong, the drop in pay is well worth less strss and happy to go to work on a daily basis
