Just had a wonderful meet and greet with the delectable Bronte(her owners Marc and Elizabeth and Spinone chum Elmo were lovely too).
Teddy made a bee (or should that be dee) line for wee Bronte without waiting for a formal introduction. Along with Harry the whippet and greyhound Rosie they had a great run around.
A bit of a spat between Bronte and Teddy looked terrifying but Marc and Elizabeth reassured me they were just getting to know each other. We carried on with our walk in harmony! Happy dogs, happy owners.
It was really good to have another owner give Teddy the once over and pronounce him a fine example of his breed. We're going to meet up regularly and hope to recruit other deerhounds who want a monthly social in Auckland, NZ. Any takers?

Hi Angie,

I have sent your details to my friends at Paremoremo. Don't worry, they live near it, not in it!!! (Sorry, obscure joke to be smiled at by Aucklanders only)

Hopefully you can hook up with them as well as Mark and Elizabeth, and Teddy will be on the straight and narrow...

PS, Thought you might like to see this. The dog at the back is Haast, Teddy's father. He was quite young when this photo was taken. He lived to a reasonable age and semen was taken before he died. His mother was a grandaughter of the famous English dh, Ch.Stranwith Reason so Teddy has a connection to lots of UK dhs.

Gosh thanks! Teddy does look like his dad. His behaviour is so improved our walks are a joy(at least most of the time) and I'm frankly amazed at how he's settled down in such a short time. Teddy actually looks much happier too and his recall is coming on leaps and bounds.

Glad to hear that all is now well with Teddy. I know his sister Truby and she is a truly lovely character.

I remember Ch Stranwith Reason - he was such a cheerful dog, always wagging his tail and delighted to meet everyone. Not a bad looker, either!

Hello Angie,

I am so pleased that you can now enjoy Teddy and his wonderful spirit!!! They were breed to run and they are ever so beautiful when they get to do what they were breed for. We are so lucky to have such wonderful pups or teenagers!!!
Best wishes,
Annette.
