TOPIC: Deerhound Education Day (Scotland)

Deerhound Education Day (Scotland) 1 year, 8 months ago #27968

Not long home from an excellent and informative day at Cardross. The speakers were excellent providing their experiences on

1.The history of the dog and specifically the Deerhound (Dr Marjory McKinnon)

2.My Way of living with Deerhounds (Rod Gillie)

3.Group Quiz (Deerhound related) (Eve Hamilton)

4.The Deerhound standard as I understand it (Jean Blamford)

5.Panel Interview (Eve Hamilton, Nell MacBean and Dr Ann MacNeill)

Much chat was provoked throughout the day as we all debated and deliberated on issues from dog control through to grooming and breeding. A blend of novices, ala Alison and I, through to experienced breeders were in attendance and from the chat throughout everyone took something from the day.

Well done and thank you to all who helped organise and run the education day and a special mention to the catering staff who provided a fantastic lunch for us all.

To protect the innocent (Jean Blamford) I was bullied into scoffing down a 2nd piece of chocolate cake washed down with lashings of cream Jean - You owe me a new wardrope!

Pictured below from left to right are the organisers and speakers: Ann MacNeill, Nell MacBean, Rod Gillie, Eve Hamilton, Marjory McKinnon, Sid Taylor (trying to hide - got ya!) and Jean Blamford.

It was a wonderful day from start to finish. Many thanks to Ann, Eve, Jean, Nell, Irene, Jackie (that chicken was scrummy) Marjory and Rod for a job well done. And if anyone can get the recipe for that wonderful chocolate cake from Jean Blandford, please come and see me after class.

I have to watch my fat intake (Doctors orders) and you can cook great curries that are low on fat if you know how. And chocolate cake as well.

Sounds like a great day education wise as well as good food. Well done to the organisers. Shame it was too far for me to attend. Looks like the weather was good to.

Glad that the education day went really well. I was very sorry that I couldn't make it (especially if there was a yummy chocolate cake!!). Hopefully there will be more education days in the near future that I can attend
