My poor husband doesn't get a look in!!!! When we ended up dog less, (the first time ever) I said I needed a dog. He said "so long as it is big, and can hunt, knock yourself out......." I had always wanted deerhounds and had studied their bloodlines since I was 15, so we ended up -totally by chance- getting 2 within 3 days last year. Faye was pretty small when she arrived and he was okay with that, but I collected Jag from Auckland airport at 4am, and when Paul got up in the morning and was brushing his teeth he was joined by jag who drank out of the basin!!! he nearly pooed his PJ's..... at the size of him!! Anyway he loves them and did from day 1, so it was all good. I had already planned and negotiated to get Pixie from Pam and Dave at Jacobite kennels when he pooped thro to the office one day and said out of the blue "You know we should think about getting another bitch" I said, "funny you should say that...."
Mind you we also have a field full of plain bay gelding horses so he has no clue what I have bred/bought etc!!!
Now this makes me sound like a manipulative minx, but I have the most beautiful dogs in the world so its all worth it!
