As we are nearly into December (!) I thought I would ask what people on here have got planned for xmas?

I am going to have a lovely peaceful day on my own (can't wait!) and take hounds for a really long wooded walk and take a flask of hot choclate and some turkey sandwiches with me. Hounds will have a doggy xmas dinner when we get home = bliss

Ours have Christmas dinner too! We are going to a friends parents:S this year, so a bit strange, how can I ask them to keep all their leftovers for my boys tea? Sounds a bit rude!!!

This Christmas will be a peaceful one, no visitors, no going for visits. The dogs will get edible gifts wrapped in newspapers, and we will make some nice walks, get something good to eat.
And I hope to get all my books sorted...

This Christmas we will be surrounded by puppies !!! Unfortunately they will be Collie puppies not Deerhounds They will be about 3 weeks old on xmas day, so not sure how peaceful it will be! Never had puppies before so it will be quite exciting.

We will be going to my family's for Christmas. We used to always take the hounds but due to my sister's expanding cavalier numbers we aren't allowed to take them anymore So we will also be taking, or trying to take some leftovers for them.

Oh Houndy, your Christmas sounds idyllic. We too are planning a quiet Christmas.
Goose with all the trimmings and then a relaxing afternoon in front of the log fire.
The dogs will be taken for a good walk late afternoon and then they will get their
Christmas dinner. Unfortunately our farm is cris crossed with public footpaths and
from past experience the world and his wife are out walking on Christmas morning so
we try to avoid walking the dogs when their are too many people about.

Traditionally, we usually go to our local hunt meet on Boxing day. I can only hope
my splint will be off by then so I can join in with the walks and the Hunt.

What lovely puppies and even more amazing - they don't all look the same. You can tell which pup is which without resorting to white feet numbers and white chest shapes! Or can other people tell which deerhound pup is which? The Cusidh litters have all looked quite identical. Must admit they still look pretty identical a few years later!

Pleased everything went well. Elise

It's a blue merle pup with a lot of white, isn't it? It's nice to see Border Collies are keeping the old colours going more than they used to. At one point they seemed to be all black and white and it was a distinct rarity to see the other colours.

As for Deerhound puppies, they're not always as black as they're painted. IF I've managed to attach it correctly, here's a photograph of DownJess's kids when they were four days old. Tavish is the big yellow bruiser in front and you cann see that we had two yellow brindles, two black, one silver and two hairy grey ones.

Last Christmas we had Caras pups and it was wonderful. People visiting to see their pups and every day was spent with the wee scones. They all looked pretty similar and so we made wee soft collars for them and as they were picked they got a collar with their name on it. This year we're going to my brothers, it won't be nearly as much fun.

We will be going to parents for tea but visit will be much shorter than the usual all night thing as we have only a few days ago got Twist from Kilbourne so will not be wanting to leave him and Odelle for long.
We usually take our lurchers but 4 dogs is apparently too much for the in-laws to take! So it will be up at stupid oclock for me taking the dogs for a run then back home before kids wake up for prezzies and stuff......least thats the plan!
Big dinner at home, off out for tea then back for a long walk round Clumber with the dogs.......my idea of heaven
Then tea, collapse in front of a wood fire watching all the rubish on telly till I fall asleep.
