Hi everyone,

I am trying to raise funds for our local Animal rescue Charity North Clwyd Animal Rescue. by taking part in a Cani-X run on Cannock chase on 28th December. I've never run more than 1500m and that was many years ago at school, so the 5.8K will be a big challenge for me !

The charity is in desperate need of more funds , as they have run out of money half way through building a much needed kennel block for strays. They have a no-kill policy, so at times they can get very full and have to turn dogs away simply because there is no room.

If you feel you can help, please sponsor me by following this link ...

Many thanks,
Steve : CiCoch

Hi CiCoch

Good luck. Make sure you let us know how you get on - with photos. Are you taking Mac or the collies?

No pressure re completion but we've sponsored you too.

Hi, thankyou very much for the support.
I'm actually running with Toby(ESS) this time, as he is the only one I've had time to train to run ahead and actually pull ! Which is very important , as I need all the help I can get

If I manage Ok on this one, I am considering going to Fineshade and I may enter both of them for that. Although it's a fair drive from me so I may not get there.

Maybe Mac would be better, he wouldn't need training as there's plenty of Deer on Cannock chase. Ben used to drag me across the chase when he saw them. lol.

More seriously, good luck, I don't think that I could do it now at my age.

Well I am sure he wouldn't need training for that, but you can just imagine what kind of state I would be in when he finally came to rest !

Thanks for the sponsor Rob !

Thankyou all very much for all the well wishes and the sponsors.
I've just got back home and collapsed in a heap. I've still got some money to come in, but the total seems to be about £250. It was enjoyable but very hard work. I came in 11th in my class, completing the 5.3Km course in 27mins 57 secs. Toby was great and pulled where it counted - up the hills ! He got confused at the turnings a couple of times but we soon got back on track, my fault really, as Ive not taught him the "gee" and "haw" commands properly yet. Next challenge is to get Mac going and then take them both. Pics to follow.
