TOPIC: Couch potato

Couch potato 3 years, 4 months ago #3928

I havent got the heart to tell Odie that the dogs on telly are not really in the room........
she is obsessed with watching Animal Cops Houston. She barks at the telly and when she is not on the couch watching it, she jumps up at the tv trying to play with dogs....
If she wasn't so cute I would say she was mad...lol.

Brilliant, Murphy hears dogs on TV, but even though I point them out, he still goes looking for them. My terrier watches them though, he sits with me watching the Dog Whisperer every weekend, all I have to say is 'doggies on the telly' and he looks up at the chimney where the tv is! so cute!

I know what you mean, Twist goes running about the house looking for the dogs....daaahh.

Glad to hear someone elses dogs watch telly......hope they dont all turn into 'soap fanatics'.
We watch the Dog Whisper, isnt he awsome?

Yeah, we love Caesar in this house, I love the fact he has all these dangerous dogs in his care, Pitbulls etc that he has saved from a miserable life and they are all 100% trustworthy around other dogs, it's amazing how he has taken the fighting instinct out of them and completely transformed them. I try a few things that he does at home and it works. Murphy now gets the Caesar treatment and it does work.

I stopped 2 hot head Border Terriers teenage boys fighting a few weeks back (one mine:S ) and grabbed them both by the scruff and laid them side by side, just like he does, it really calmed them. The owner of the other freaked out. Sometimes our fears relay to the dogs. I just like the way he handles things, amazing though what he does in an hour! He cures 2 dogs in that time!!!!

It is so great to see the mixture of dogs he has in one place.

Well done you with the Border Terriers.....you know I would be more scared of bring bitten by a small dog than a large one...daft I know.

Every village/town should have a Caesar then there would be less dogs in pounds. If only huh?

Caesar's got bit a few times, last week by a Dachshund. The Border Terriers are easy, I wouldn't want to stop big dogs fighting. When its your dog though you don't think twice.

We need a Caesar for the Deerhound world, perhaps we should all write to him and ask him to stop them chasing after other dogs and eople and cyclist and horses and.......anything that moves!!

Re:Couch potato 3 years, 4 months ago #3937

Yeah, prehaps we could have him on a 'time share' basis...lol

Ben seems to have sorted out that TV dogs aren't real, he got very interested at first but soon lost interest.

Ceasar is absolutely amazing. I took Ben to puppy training classes with a lady from Cannock who was totally against hitting a dog and shouting but she didn't seem to have much else to offer other than just patience. She couldn't do a thing with Ben, he was totally disruptive and just wanted to chase around the premises jumping on the other dogs. Usually we had to take him into a room on his own.

Ceasar does have a method that works, our terrier was terrible on his lead, he chokes himself. Ceasar's method of blocking him with a stick to force him to stay by our side worked wonders. Also making a short sharp noise and gently pinching Ben with your fingers seems to settle him down when he gets over excited.

I remember the episode with Ceasar training that dominant husky where his shirt was ripped and he got bitten. He said it was like fighting with a wolf. That man sure has a lot of belief in his methods to take on dogs like that!

Re:Couch potato 3 years, 4 months ago #3992

I was hoping that he was picking up tips rather than judging

Lovely pictures my DH has not notice the telly yet, but he is so young.

I have schipperkes and they is rather nuts, they have heard the Dogwispers and other similar programs and when a dog is barking they running to the door and barking and are going out to take the intruder I think they have a screw loose this happens at least once a week and it has been for many weeks, why don't they learn?

I hope my DH never will notice the telly. It is a little bit better now because I don't have so many schipperke these days, I only have two now, and one of them is old and deaf. And the other one is rather well-mannered. Therefor it is hope for my DH not to start barking at the telly I hope.

I will also pray a tribute to Caesar, he is amazing. Here in sweden he is on telly once a week and I try to see it every time. I have learned much from watching him. Today it was a program when he was bite by for example one chihauhau (don't know how to spell it) and the owner did'nt do anything when the dog was bite her son. Caesar get really mad at her and he says that he could'nt do anything to the dog, but the woman change later and go working with Caesar, and of course the dog went to be a lovelly little dog. I was wondered what she have done if the dog has been at Rottweiler or Pitbull, she says that people can go another way if the dog bites them. What an idiot. Poor kid when the mother not says anyting to the dog when he bites the boy. But Caesar fix it, he is a real humanauthority.

Sorry this was so long.

Lockie looks so engaged, the only thing on TV that captures Cailean's attention for long is the sound of puppies. Any video with mewling puppies will get her running in from the other end of the house. Just nosy or potentially maternal who can say?
Caesar is great. If only I could get him to teach Cailean to come when she is off leash; I do sometimes get overanxious about her interacting with smaller dogs. One friendly bash with her great paw is too much for many dogs. She also has a tendency to flop on them. I received Caesar's book on being a pack leader for Christmas- hopefully I will be a better pack leader.
