I just saw a film, "The Other Boleyn Girl". There were at least two scenes in which Deerhounds appeared. In the first there four. I was wondering if any one knew to whom they belonged? They, Deerhounds keep showing up in films.

I haven't seen that one, but there is a dog in the latest Pride and Prejudice (with Keira Knightly) that looks very like a deerhound although it's a bit small so maybe a lurcher? Very cute!!

We have a program in the UK called Location, Location, Location. At the end of last wednesdays episode a deerhound walked accross during the credits!! An icon of country living and desirable homes perhaps!
I might have to go and have a lie down.

Wow, missed that one! I always watch Location, Location, Location too! No doubt a re run on Sky soon!

Has anyone seen UK Gold on Sky. Sometimes they have the big gold space hoppers with UK Gold written on them during the breaks, sometimes there is a man walking through the woods with a Deerhound! I get so excited, I wonder would Labrador owners be the same as us?!!!
Then there is Robin Hood, Kevin Costner version with the Deerhounds at the beginning of the film chasing Morgan Freeman (The painted man) I believe?

I can't imagine other breed owners getting so excited about seeing their breed on the screen or live. If, when we are out and about in the car, Alan spots a Deerhound or lurcher being walked, he stops the car and gets out to ask the people about their dogs. They owners must think he's nuts!

There were Deerhounds in Vanity Fair and Jane Eyre

I have not seen that film so not sure who owned the deerhounds

My Deerhounds have been in a Chanel Four Drama Doc Thomas Obeckett we had a great day, however I did let a puppy (six months)go for filming and I would never ever do that again

Hope someone comes along that knows

The Deerhounds in the film belong to Gill & Toby Smith and Jan & Mark Cheshire. There is write up in the Deerhound club newsletter and some pics from when the filming took place.

Do you mean The Other Boleyn Girl? I read the article, but it didn't mention the film name I don't think. We might have to watch it now. Is it any good?

That's interesting to know. Is that the Deerhound Club in the U.K.? What bloodline/kennel are the dogs?

Yes it is the deerhound club in the uk. Unfortunately it doesn't give names of the hounds. BTW a deerhound was also used in the third Harry Potter film, this was a Kilbourne hound and a litter was born at the time of filming and the pups were named after the characters in the film. We have Scabbers from said litter.

And does he[?] have any magical inclinations? That's really neat in it's own way. Did you see the film "Orlando"? There were a couple of scenes with two lovely Deeerhounds in it.

Gill and Toby's affix is Nimloth and Jan and Mark's affix is Deeranwith. With all the talk re. The Other Bolyn Girl I just had to go out and buy the DVD the other day. I watched it with my Daughter and we both thought it was very good. Sally

Yes he knows when there is cheese around and he can jump. We have a small flat roof shed that is about four foot high which he jumps on to sleep when he is outside or to knock on the lounge window when he wants to come in.

Another Deerhound movie. I was watching "My Life so Far" for the second time [a friend had not seen it] and I noticed that along with a number of other Scottish breeds there was a Deerhound in several scenes. How they do get about. Still the one with the most at one time is "I know where I'm going" That one has a big pack.

Does that mean that Kilbourne McLoed was the sire? How neat!
