I DO !!!

I love it and the hounds do..I love hearing their paws crunching on the frosty grass and seeing their breath billowing out of their mouths. The only drawback is that the lunatic - aka Murray slipped on some ice yesterday and is limping. The degree of the limp varies depending on who is looking at him He forgot about it this evening and was running about like a maniac but when it was time to get back in the car it was 'oohh, I have a limp, poor me' and could hardly get back in the car! He is so precious and such an actor
Just watched weather forecast and this weather is with us for about another week - yippee

The terrier went for walks but Ben the DH refused. He likes the cold and frost and he likes the dark but just doesn't seem to like them both together. Never mind I expect we'll make up for it tomorrow as I'm home all day.

As he didn't want to go walkies I said "Coming up the garden" and both dogs galloped out the back door and up to the paddock to gallop round a few times and then sniff to see what visitors we've had today (Foxes, squirrels, rabbits) and of course the chickens.

Strange souls aren't they!

I love it! no mud in the house. We have a Finnan who is a good actor like Murray.
for the last couple of days he has held his front paw up when he is in the house but when
he is outside he runs around like a mad thing with his sister without so much as a limp.

I haven't had to walk the dogs for the last couple of months because of the ankle surgery,
etc. but I think I am just about ready to take up the gauntlet again. My only
concern is the dogs running into me and me not being able to get out of their way quick
enough. When our Deerhounds run the front runners never look where they are going, they
are too busy looking back at the hounds chasing them. I don't fancy another stay in
hospital having another repair to my ankle and having to explain that some lunatic dogs
ran me over. Perhaps I'll start with a couple of oldies and Charlottes Whippet, they
can't do much damage.

Mine have knocked my legs from under me a few times! Then when I'm on the ground, totally winded, they stand over me with puzzled faces,as much as to say, 'what on earth are you doing down there?'The little treasures!

My two have knocked my legs from under me a few times and then to add insult to injury they usually stand on my hair while they check to see why I am on the floor and I can't get up They usually then take advantage and raid my coat pockets for treats while I am trying to get upright again.

Our lot took some time acclimatising (a bit tough on the feet on hard stubble fields )so one or two lame most days, but they soon got used to it and generally once they are out and on the move, forget a,bt any discomforts. Its been a bit of a testing time for our Salukie lurchers (both getting old), confirms their eastern origins.

First things first, Sally and Alan, you're both online at the same time? Please don't tell me you ask for a cup of tea via the internet!
I love the frosty weather, it kills all the bugs off, typical how it warmed up just before Christmas, giving everyone nasty bugs! The only thing I don't like is Murphy running on the hard, slippery ground, previously he used to tear his pads on the fields, so I've kept a close eye on him this time, road walking is much more pleasurable when this weather is here. If Murray is limping, perhaps keep him on the lead for a couple of days, sometimes they look like they have healed and it prolongs the injury if you let them off running too soon (voice of exprience on this one ) Murphy used to have a weak right front leg/shoulder as a pup and was always limping after a run, thankfully he never gets it now.
We've only had a dusting of snow, nothing much, but temperatures were apparently down to -10oc last night! I stepped outside the back door at 11pm and the cold air stung my chest, so it must have been unusually cold.

Well, you're a good boy! My husband would have shouted out "put the kettle on". Sally, you have him well trained

God Steve, are you mad? get back in the house and in front of the log fire. That's the
best place to be when the temperature is below 0 degrees.

Didn't have the dogs with me that day, I was half way up Snowdon when that was taken.
It's unfair to expose them to that kind of weather for too long.

You are so lucky to live there but then I am lucky to live in Pembrokeshire. We have very mild weather here and rarely have snowfall so this frosty weather is a real bonus!

From the "Great White North" CANADA we have to like this cold & frosty weather, there's about half a year of it! Days like these make it easier. Cailean loves the snow, she just isn't too keen on bitter cold days below minus 10. See beach shot just a couple of hours before snow storm.

We walked on a frozen bay & came across these trees the beavers have been busy at. I think they would have toppled the tree if the bay hadn't frozen over.

Cailean would make a wonderful spouse. If something interests me, it interests her although she might try to take it if she can carry it off. I was thrilled to see evidence of beavers presence 10 minutes from my home.

Last night the latest storm hit and we woke up to a fresh white winter wonderland. Cailean loved having the ravine behind our house all to ourselves where she could investigate cracks, crevices and fallen logs to her hearts content. When Cailean is really happy she will run up to me clacking her teeth together and then nibble my coat, thank goodness it is water proof, just not canine proof. (she does manage to be gentle)
