Cailean is persistent in trying to communicate with me. She has been poking me with her nose for half an hour or more. I got up gave her a snack, that wasn't it, I let her outside, that wasn't it, I gave her a cookie that wasn't it. Each time she was back within minutes poking me again. Finally I twigged- out to her bed a quick cuddle, turn off the lights and she's off to sleep. I think she was actually saying its time for both of us to go to bed. Off we go. Cheers

Ah, the old Creature of Habit trick. Tavish has been the house dog for the last two years and sleeps in my bedroom. He too has very firm ideas about bedtime, usually involving poking the dumb human with the nose and dancing at her until she gets the idea. THis can start as early as 10:00 pm and lasts until I give in and admit it's bedtime for both of us. The thing is, he's insisting on leaving a nice warm living room, where he's been snoozing and hogging the fire all evening, in order to go to a cold bedroom. I don't follow his reasoning, but then who am I to unravel Deerhound logic?

Ours will either go to bed without us, which can be a fight for a spot, or just wait till one goes to bed and then they all get up and follow.
Lockie does lots of nudging for attention and Xena will nudge to go outside.

Fergal will pace around to let us know its time to'go', while Callie will just wait until we take her out. Once both hounds have decided it's bed time, that's it, they will go to their beds and not move, even it we want to take them out for a last wee, nothing will move them, not even treats!

Cara is a great one for nudging as is Joe the lurcher and they both usually do it when
I have a mug of hot coffee in my hand, not for long though, it quite often ends up down
my shirt and in my lap because they always do it when you least expect it.

Yes, both Murray and one of my lurchers William do this - the times have I ended up with 3rd degree burns(exaggration) of the lap area! Why do they do in when you are enjoying a nice mug of coffee?
